Dreamcast Platformers?
I've always been a big fan of 3D platformers, and I'm also a big fan of the Dreamcast. The only problem is, at least from what I can tell, good 3D platformers on the DC are few and far between. What has sparked my interest on this topic is that I just got Super Magnetic Neo today, and I'm in love with it. It really makes me want to play more charming 3D platformers in the style of games like Pac-Man World, Super Mario Sunshine, etc. So could you guys recommend to me some inexpensive 3D platformers for the DC? Not Rayman 2 BTW, already played that one. Right now I've got my eyes on Kao the Kangaroo.

Prince of Persia: Arabian Nights?
Supposedly it's improved over the PC version, Prince of Persia 3D... but I'm not sure if it's actually good or not.

In a rare occurrence, the GCN version of Kao is better than the DC.
Others to check out:
Evil Twin: Cyprien's Chronicles - DC PAL, also available on PS2 PAL - Plays like Mario 64, but darker / more mature.
Floigan Brothers - DC exclusive, decent game
Ooga Booga - DC exclusive, platform elements in a Mario Party style game
Slave Zero, Soul Reaver, Stupid Invaders, Toy Commander, and Buzz Lightyear have some platforming elements, all are worth owning - but I wouldn't compare any of them to Super Magnetic Neo or Kao the Kangaroo.
That's probably going to be it. DC was not a platformer powerhouse.

Donald Duck Goin' Quackers? Never played it so I can't say what the quality is. Other than that, just slap a "/thread" after mjmjr25's post.

I used to own the GBC version, all I remember about it is that there was a level that ripped off Sandopolis Act 2 from Sonic & Knuckles, ghosts and all.

Yeah, I purposely left off "Donald Duck Goin' Quackers".
The DC version was better graphically than the N64 version - but both versions were flawed, the idea (a moving vertically) platformer on those consoles made you a bit dizzy and when it "turns" the corner, it is a tad "blocky".
This was just fine at the time, however, Nintendo re-released the game on GCN and it actually plays pretty damn amazing. Don't share this with anyone but us 4, but I've actually put a ton of time into this game and have beaten the GCN version - it is that fun.

I highly recommend you to play Sonic Adventure 2. There are tons of extras to unlock and lots of stages to complete. Trying to get A on all stages never gets old.

Re: Dreamcast Platformers?
While I loved SA2 when I got it back in the day, I cant stand the non Sonic levels now. The gem finding levels with Knuckles and Rouge are slow and boring, and the Tails/ Eggman levels are just button mashing the fire button. The Sonic/Shadow levels however, are excellent.Sonicx360 wrote:I highly recommend you to play Sonic Adventure 2. There are tons of extras to unlock and lots of stages to complete. Probably should've cleared this up already, but I've already played SA2 on the GC.Sonicx360 wrote:I highly recommend you to play Sonic Adventure 2. There are tons of extras to unlock and lots of stages to complete. Trying to get A on all stages never gets old.
