Bought a PVM monitor, now I need cables!
I picked up a PVM 1354Q and it's time to buy some cables. Here are the systems I want to run on this monitor:
Genesis model 1 modded with rca and svideo jacks
SNES mini modded for svideo and rgb
Saturn NTSC running svideo
I will be receiving my consolized MVS from Analogue Interactive in a few weeks and plan to order their scart cable as well. I have another tv for my HD systems, and a TATE tv w/ svideo and component.
I am using a pair of active studio monitors for this setup with rca inputs on the back. I have the cables I need for audio but I need the scart/rgb cables or adaptor.
Let me know if you have any for sale or have a reliable source!

How much? Did you find it locally? Seems to me it's the perfect 13 incher.

I came across one on ebay that was a local seller in my area. I won it for $32 with free drop off at my work

Re: Bought a PVM monitor, now I need cables!
Welcome to the club.
I have a female BNC to male RCA adapter coming in the mail. It will allow me to use my PVM for consoles that only support up to composite without modding (like the NES). You should probably check into getting one of these as well just in case. They can be found on eBay for really cheap. I got mine for 99 cents with free shipping. This is the one I bought (shipping takes about 3 to 4 weeks. You may want to check other auctions that ship faster if you want it sooner). If you're going to get one, you'll want to get a standard male to male BNC cable as well. I'm going to pick up a pair the next time I hit up Weird Stuff Warehouse in Sunnyvale.
Thankfully these monitors are S-Video ready so no problem there.
As for RGB, you can order these but they are kinda pricey (and are in pounds instead of dollars too). It also has stereo RCA audio cables built in so that's handy. I decided to leave an inquiry at retro-access.com on their contact page to see if they could make the same cable (I linked them to it) and they said they could for $25. Much cheaper than over at retrogamingcables.co.uk The problem is that they are slow to respond because they get a lot of e-mails. If you instantly want the cables, get it off the retrogamingcables site unless you are willing to wait. Make sure that the RGB section on your monitor has ports for R, G, B, and one for synch. I've seen cables that have 5 BNC connectors instead of 4 becuase some have two synch cables. Yours most likely has four like mine does, so the scart to BNC cable I linked you to should be just what you're looking for.
I know ApolloBoy's PVM has a CMPTR port on his. His is a bit different than mine. If you have a port labeled CMPTR that accepts a 25-pin D-sub connector, then get this cable, as it is cheaper. This one also has stereo RCA cables built in.

Re: Bought a PVM monitor, now I need cables!
Jessie I took a look and mine has three separate inputs for R G B and one that says synth in/out. The monitor came with three connectors that change the RGB to take the rca plugs. I bid on this cable. I hope I found the right thing:

The other question I have is regarding raw sync vs regular scart cables? I ordered cables on ebay for decent prices and the seller says you can easily change for the other is need be. Here are the ones I popped on:

Re: Bought a PVM monitor, now I need cables!
The scart cables should be no problem. Your monitor sounds like it's similar to mine since it has r, g, b, and synch (you mean that right? you said synth
).
As for the scart to component cable you're bidding on, it technically doesn't convert the signal to component. It just passes through the RGB signal. For this reason, it won't work on regular TVs that have component inputs, which is why people get actual scart to component transcoders. At least the PVM will accept the signal even though it's left unconverted. I actually have a scart to component cable like the one you are bidding on. Totally forgot I had it. I can't try it out though since I don't have any of the connectors to change the rca's to bnc's to plug into the monitor. Seeing as you'll be playing in pure RGB and not converting the signal at all, it should work. Let me know if it does so I know whether or not I need to get more rca to bnc adapters.
I would've lent you my cable had I thought about this method but like I said, I forgot I even had one laying around. Just make sure you have a scart switcher to plug the scart end in.
Edit: I just got my female bnc to male rca jack in the mail. Once I grab a bnc cable I'll try to test the individual rca cables on the scart to component cable on their own.

Yea is says Ext. Sync in/out
I plan to only use it on the pvm for now and passing the signal was my goal at the moment. I can worry about converters later.

Yeah. Once you get that cable off of eBay you should be good to go.
