Post any tough gaming challenge you're undertaking here.

Post by Gamerforlife »

This might be a dumb idea for a thread, but I thought it would be interesting to devote a thread to whatever tough undertakings some of us are currently taking on. Maybe some of you are trying to 1cc an arcade game, grab a certain high score in your favorite 2D shooter, or nab every last achievement in your favorite game, or taking on some insane difficulty level like I'm currently doing with my Mass Effect 2 Insanity mode run. Maybe some of you crazy people are actually trying to beat Battletoads or Super Ghouls and Ghosts! Or have had your Xbox 360 on for hours trying to get that insane Survivor achievement in Dead Rising.

Just post whatever it is here and maybe tell us how your progress is going. Maybe this thread will encourage you to stick with whatever tough challenge you're in the midst of undertaking.

Well, I'm trying to get back into fighting games after 7 or 8 years hiatus. Not a mammoth undertaking, but I sure am rusty. >_< Playing some Street Fighter 4, doing the challenges to get a handle on how the game works. The first batch I finished was C. Viper's on normal which I'm patting myself on the back for. It's been taking some doing but slowly it's all coming along. Next up, I need to start doing these moves on a consistent basis. Really satisfying when I figure something out. It's been fun and challenging getting reacquainted with the genre. :)

I intend to actually finish an RPG for once. :P

I love them, but they are too damn long. I'm so close to finishing Persona 4 and SMT: Nocturne, but I haven't been at them for awhile. Right now I'm pretty set on finishing The Witcher 2 though. Hopefully I don't get distracted again.

My huge goal is to one day have caught at least one shiny of each chainable pokémon species in the Diamond/Pearl/Platinum games. There are mini-goals in there as well (one shiny of each radar-exclusive species, one shiny of each swarm species, etcetera). Since I legitimately enjoy chaining, I'll eventually get there simply from doing it enough times for fun... but it will take years.

I wish I could concisely explain what I'm talking about, but I can't. For the curious, here's an article about using the pokéradar to obtain shiny pokémon. It's a bit involved until you get the specifics down.

I recently completed an 82 game season of NHL 2002 and won the Stanley Cup. That took some time. Also recently had a near perfect run in Sonic CD.

Hm. I have been meaning to beat Jackal without losing a life again. Perhaps I'll take that challenge on again.

Super Stardust HD

dsheinem - 15,000,000 ish
me - 6,800,000 ish

I completely choked in my last run at one of the planet bosses where I had three lives and played completely out of control.

I haven't played that game to try and best that score in EONS - probably at least 2 years, if not more. Let me know if you get close, I'll have to give it another run

:D

You are one of only two guys on my friends list that have the game.

This begs the question: Why does noiseredux not have this?

I'm determined to finish Mr Bones. I have the japanese version, which apparently is a bit easier but its still breaking my balls.

Not sure how I'm going to manage with the joke telling stage yet though.

You are legitimately nuts for even thinking about trying this. Let me know if you want some just straight-up traded to ya; might save you a couple hours. :P
