Why do so many girls like Tekken?

I have noticed that a completely disproportionate number of girls like Tekken compared to other fighting games. What's the cause?

I'm thinking it may have something to do with it being on the playstation 2 and many women finding the game at the same time.

Thoughts? I'm curious.

Its weird that you mention it, because my wife really likes Tekken, and its one of the few games she was aware of before she met me (though she couldn't remember the name at first).

She was introduced to it through Tekken 2 on the PS1 though.

I'm sure its just a coincidence honestly.

The inputs for attacks/combos are easier to do on games like Tekken and DoA compared to games like KoF, SF, BB, etc. It doesn't mean the games are easier to master, of course.

I would assume its because majority of the characters on the games are really good looking people, even the fat guys are good looking. Also this game is button mashing friendly, so it could be ease of play for girls ?

As a girl I am more into soul calibur and marvel vs capcom. I don't really like tekken it
just never kept my intrest like other fighting games.

Haha, it also depends on what girls we are talking about. More dedicated gamers will have a lot of the same tastes as guys.

More casual girls may prefer the ease and good looks of Tekken. But I think that can also apply to guys. Guys that are more casual may also prefer the simpler inputs of games like Tekken. *shrug*

Agreed. It think the really cool character designs play a role for sure. My ex actually ended up loving Tekken after we met. She said it also had to do with the drama storyline that unfolds between the family with each installment. I also think girls like Tekken because Kazuya Mishima/ Jin Kazama are total douchebags, and girls like douchebags.

I think DoA is a better middleground. I suck at fighters and need something to look at too
