Being a Sega fan in early 1999 must have sucked.
Saturn had seen its last release and Genesis was finally dead. Dreamcast was still months away. Those of you who can remember: what did you do in 1999 before September?

Kept playing my Genesis and PC games. I had no interest in the 32bit era.
I also had picked up a SNES Mini when it was released 2 years prior so I was playing games on that too.

I remember being a die hard Saturn fan in 96-97 and visiting saturnworld.com (saturn-world?) every day to read about the latest Saturn news and upcoming games (many of which never came out lol). Saturn was dying off by then already and in 98 I got a PS1 after I played Gran Turismo while on a trip to Italy and decided I just had to have that amazing racing game. Once I had the PS1 I didn't buy another Saturn game, which is too bad, I would have liked to have scooped up Magic Knight Rayearth if I had still been paying attention to Saturn back then.
It was good while it lasted though. I loved the Panzer Dragoon games. My friend and I always had a blast playing Virtua Cop and Daytona USA together. I region modded it myself and got an import copy of Metal Slug from a local video game store. I even got SOTN and Biohazard and beat those games without knowing a lick of Japanese.

I was playing my Genesis up until 1998 before I switched over to PlayStation at Christmas '97. Wasn't a Saturn guy but when 9/9/99 came around, I was right there. Always preferred Sega (we had a Game Gear and then a Genesis).

Saturn and N64 man. There were still late nights of Baku Baku and Mario Kart 64

I'm pretty sure there were more N64 games released in '99 than any other year, sooo....that

It definitely sucked. I remember downloading a lot of N64 games and playing them on my Doctor V64. Many of them sucked. It was indeed a long, dry time. It's also the time when I started getting into computers and purchasing higher-end video gear since I didn't have to worry about spending to on too many games.

I was still playing my Master System. It wasn't all bad.

Played a lot of PS1, and a fair share of PC games too. PC gaming was really good right about then, with MMO's like EQ and UO, Diablo, Fallout, etc. As soon as 1999 came though, I drove to another city to get the last DC they had, unplugged my phone (hehe wired phones), and played a lot of Sonic.
