When do you "break the seal?"
When do you "break the seal?"
You're all gamers, so I'm sure you know the feeling: months of waiting, watching every video, looking at every single screenshot. Finally, the day comes, you finally have this game in your hands.... But when do you open it? I usually end up unwrapping everything right away, look at it once, and then put it on my shelf. I've had Mass Effect 2 and KotOR 2 like that since they were released, and I'm not sure I'll ever get around to playing them.

Now-a-days there isn't too much to see in the box, so I wait until I'm ready to play it. For example I still have Fallout: New Vegas sealed for the 360. I'll open it when I'm ready to play.
Let strength be granted, so the world might be mended...so the world might be mended.

Plastic wrap comes off instantly. When I was back at Amazon and had my games delivered there I'd go and read the manual at my next "bathroom break".

Same here. My copy of Super Mario Galaxy 2 is still sealed, and will stay that way until I get around to playing it.

I have very little patience, so the seal is usually broken off as soon as i get home.
I would read the manual in the bathroom or when im eatting.

Same here, too. Not that I get brand new current gen games, but every sealed game I get I wait until I want to play it before unwrapping it.

So you guys break the seal when you break the seal? I think that calls for some Xzibit.

I have gobs of games still in their shrink. Evidently I'm wayyy behind. I went on an opening binge last year to collect my Nintendo points though.

Seal comes off the second I get to my car with the game, even if I won't be playing it for a while. I am a manual smeller too, and i'm not ashamed of it!

I totally thought of something else when I read the thread title... After the third beer usually
I usually open my games on the way home from the store or else first thing when I get home.

Re: When do you "break the seal?"
I don't buy games new very often but the few times I have, I didn't waste any time opening them. I was so on the fence about Skyward Sword, in a way I wanted to keep it sealed but at the same time I wanted to play it. I didn't have the extra $70 to spend on another copy so I pretty much opened it as soon as I got home and actually started playing it like a week later. haha
