Leaving the Saturn plugged in
Hey guys I have been playing my newly acquired Saturn a lot and I am just wondering if I should unplug it from the outlet after playing it. I am worried because it was a bit warm the other day, and one other time the disc drive didn't spin on start up(I replugged it in and it was fine) I grew up with Nintendo products and only accustomed to the working habits of those systems, So I am new to SEGA consoles.

Yeah, you'll want to unplug your Sega consoles after each play. If you leave them plugged in for too long, they'll catch fire. If you're really unlucky, your Saturn will turn into an N64.

You can usually leave your systems plugged in like any other electronics. Though I suggest not leaving power bricks plugged in all the time.
If your Saturn is getting warm from staying plugged in though that could be a sign of something wrong on the board, like a bad fuse or something.

Re: Leaving the Saturn plugged in
My Saturn has been my most reliable console and I leave it plugged in. I've never heard of that kind of problem.
Re: Leaving the Saturn plugged in
Consoles with internal power supplies will get warm when plugged in and not in use. I'd suggest unplugging it when you won't be using it for the rest of the day.
I have my three consoles plugged into a surge protector, which I turn off every night.

Re: Leaving the Saturn plugged in
whats the voltage in iceland?
I have a JP playstation and leaving it plugged in warms it up
US runs at 120v and the JP PS1 I think it's 100
Not that theres anything wrong with that. The PS still works. I play it for a few days and then unplug it and move on to the next console.
Maybe something similar happens for him where he lives?
theres nothing wrong with unplugging it. Its ok to turn it on once in a while too, to keep the battery fresh.

Re: Leaving the Saturn plugged in
When I first got my Saturn, I had been playing Corpse Killer a lot (don't ask me why I was playing that game, I haven't the slightest clue), and I got really far into the game but hadn't replaced my system's internal battery yet (so I couldn't save) but had to go out of town for a week. What did I do? I left the system on, paused, for an entire week straight. Not a single bad thing happened. Older consoles (at least from my experience) just don't use enough energy to reach the point of catastrophic nuclear meltdown for which the Xbox 360 is so infamous.
In short, I wouldn't worry about it.

You say that like the N64 was bad?GSZX1337 wrote:Yeah, you'll want to unplug your Sega consoles after each play. If you leave them plugged in for too long, they'll catch fire. If you're really unlucky, your Saturn will turn into an N64.

Re: Leaving the Saturn plugged in
If the power supply is on the inside doesn't it mean it does'ne get power until it is turned on? I left my saturn plugged in last night and it is not warm or anything, I am just very paranoid about losing the one system of mine that took the longest to acquire.KDub wrote:You can usually leave your systems plugged in like any other electronics.
