What does your character customization say about you?
What does your character customization say about you?
This is just kind of an open question, and not one that I expect people to even have a consistent answer for, but when you are given the opportunity to customize your character in terms of appearance or ability, why do you make the choices that you make?

I always go default. Can't be bothered
Plus, in games like Mass Effect, I feel that default Shepherd is the way he's supposed to look. That face is on the box art

It shows that I prefer functionality over aesthetics. This also applies to consoles.

I tend to make my characters look like another character from another game, so this would say that im not a very creative person lol.

Re: What does your character customization say about you?
I often choose female characters. I like to see women represented in games for one, but for less noble reasons, if it's a game with a 3rd person perspective and I have to stare at my character's ass for the entire game, I'd rather have it be an ass I enjoy looking at.
In terms of traits, I sometimes just beef up on strength and vitality because it makes the game easier for my typical playstyle (which is "kill all sonsabitches"). However, I occassionally decide that I value things like intelligence and verbal ability, so I choose those attributes. This will force me to approach the game in a different way, which is sometimes enjoyable. I will occassionally make choices that aren't going to help me achieve character goals, but I do them anyway because it fits the story I want to tell. This worked out well for me in Deus Ex: Human Revolution because I got really good at stealth (although, I would later reach a boss fight and realize I had a lot to learn about fighting in that game).
Similarly when choosing between party member characters to interact with, I sometimes like a character even though they aren't very good for battle. Like in Persona 4, I liked Chie as a character, but didn't really care for her skills in battle. I still pursued her relationship for social links though just because I wanted to see what happened in her story path.

I tend to spend more time with the character creator than I do with the actual game (Brink, Skyrim, Spore)

I often find myself playing black characters.
I don't really know why, I only now thought about it.
Huh

I play as default usually. I just customize the hair and there I go.
I did make a Spock lookalike for Kingdoms of Amalur though.
I don't know what it says about me.
