Killzone 3 goes F2P on PSN!

Next week, you'll be able to get into Killzone 3's multiplayer without having to deal with all the cruft of the rest of the game. As revealed on the latest PlayStation Blogcast podcast, a standalone Killzone 3 multiplayer download will be available on PSN.

The mode will be a free download this Tuesday -- with a level cap. When you hit the cap, if you want to continue leveling up, you'll be able to pay $14.99 for the "full" multiplayer experience. By then, you'll know whether you want to continue playing, without having to pay a cent for the education.

well, that's badass. If you want me to play your game -- even one in a genre I'm not "into," make that shit free on PSN!

I still have not played Killzone 2 or 3, I told myself I would finish 1 first but I doubt that will ever happen (The game is ass, no other way to look at it), this might get me in the mood to pick up Killzone 2 and then 3.

You can play any of the maps and modes until you reach the rank of Sergeant. If you want to keep playing, attain higher ranks, and earn any of Killzone 3 multiplayer's four exclusive new trophies, you have to unlock the full version for only $15

Surely you would buy a retail copy rather than investing $15 into the multiplayer, also that reads 'if you want to keep playing', does that mean you can no longer play once you get to sergeant? If so its hardly 'F2P' its more like Demo.

Hmm, I'm going to have to check this out. I took a chance on console FPSes by picking up the original Resistance and I'm liking it. If this is any good I'll give the original another chance (for some reason a burned copy won't work on my PSTwo) and then I might end up getting one of these.

Retail copies don't come with the DLC maps. Anyways, this is aimed at people who don't care about single player. And the added perk of not having to go grab the disc if you just want to play a quick round.

to me it means I can play through some multiplayer and find out if I'd ever want to invest in the disc.

I downloaded it today, according to the info screen, once you hit level 10, you need to pay to keep playing, so you cant keep playing as a level 10 character.

To me its much more of a trial as there is limited play time.
