This is stupid. I'm not about to get all up in arms over it, but this is a pointless change.

I guess it doesn't really effect much, but I feel as if PSN has a better ring to it than SEN.

Well, it's better than when Sci Fi changed to Syfy, if you wanna talk about really dumb name changes

Yeah, that was spectacularly stupid.

I think the name change makes sense, although I'm not sure how I feel with the current day consoles being an all out media machine. It is very nice to have it all in one, but it just takes away the feel of what it means to be a gaming console. It's essentially a home computer with a controller. Which you could argue, that's what it has always been, but still.

Yeah, I get what you're saying. One of the reasons I've always preferred consoles to PCs is because consoles are gaming machines. It's their sole reason for existing, or at least it used to be. There was something special about that. As time goes on though they are becoming more and more like computers. Having all those functions is cool, but consoles are losing some of what made them truly different from PCs. Remember when you plugged in your SNES or Genesis and you didn't have to go through all these menus that the 360 has before playing your game? Remember when you could just play something without first being asked to get online and log into your gaming profile? Remember when you didn't have to wait while you installed your game on to the hard drive before playing it? Remember when you didn't have to wait at the title screen while your game checks for you downloadable content? There are times when I resent the influence of PCs on consoles

Times have changed

If consoles want to finally get off their collective asses and add proper mouse+keyboard support, then fine by me.

Except, SciFi always sucked. Just more so now.

PSN is still called PSN. SEN is a bigger network which PSN will be part of.

so really, no need to be upset.

I agree with Gamerforlife's thoughts on this whole thing. It's disturbing that I have to shift through a bunch of tabs on the 360 dashboard now to navigate to GAMING sections and whatnot. I don't care about the newest hip hop artists or any celebrity bull crap in general. So annoying that I have to even see that crap on the dashboard now.

But yeah this doesn't seem to be anything to fret over.
