For some reason I always linked these two games as similar, and I can be very wrong. I am looking to play one of them, given that I dont want it to be a bad experience. I heard both games are less than average.
I would like to hear your opinion on the game, and would you say I should go play Blue Stinger or Dino Crisis instead? I haven't played these games.
how would you compare D2 to the original?
Of course all are Dreamcast games, am not refer to another console

Re: Between D2 and Carrier
I never played D2 i have played Carrier. I actually bought it when it first came out. I recently played it again for a few months about half way through. I dont think its a bad game at all. Some quirks in it, and at times you will be WTF im doing now. Some of the back tracking can be a PITA but most of the times it isnt too bad. The game does have its moments as well. I think overall its a much more polished game than Blue Stinger.
Curtsy when you walk by that Dreamcast
Re: Between D2 and Carrier
I own both Carrier and D2, and agree that both are good games. They have their flaws, but you can tell that a lot of work went into those games, particularly D2.
Personally I prefer D2 for its narrative, story and overall atmosphere. It's far superior to the first D and Enemy Zero. Keep in mind though, despite its name, it has nothing to do with the first D and is completely different gameplay and story wise.
Carrier I haven't played so much, but that's also an enjoyable game.

Re: Between D2 and Carrier
D2 is also *4* discs long. It's a very long game, with a very deep storyline and environment, and is also very cut-scene dependent. Also, it sure earned its M rating with the blood, gore, gruesomeness, and the other stuff the content descriptors on the back of the case got right. Overall, fun if you are willing and ready to get into it, and if you got a strong stomach.
Oh, and the chronic Dreamcast random encounter giveaways. When that disc drive gets all LOUD, you know you got a fight coming up

I've only played D2 and I liked it. I should say up-front that it is a heavily-flawed game, I remember feeling like the game was way too easy, as you can pretty much always find game to hunt/regenerate your health. The story is also a little bit too ambitious.
That said, a too-ambitious story is still pretty interesting. And the gameplay is also leaps and bounds beyond the too-dull first D and the too-hard Enemy Zero. Story-wise D2 isn't really related to either of those games besides the main character having the same name/appearance.
Like all of WARP's games, it's based on a really interesting concept that just doesn't entirely work. But you can tell that the game was really trying to do something special and IMO is worth playing just for that.

Re: Between D2 and Carrier
I owned both of these games and played them quite extensively. As was mentioned before, they both have their flaws and strengths.
Before I go into them, I should point out one important note if and when you decide to play carrier. In the menu, switch the voices to Japanese, and make sure subtitles are on. The voice acting is quite bad, but the Japanese versions are far superior. It will make the game far more suspenseful.
Carrier: This game is suspenseful and slow paced, just like classic survival horror games like Resident Evil. It bears more than a similarity to the Late Saturn release Deep Fear. I found the game play solid, the story was classic Japanese Horror (campy and ridiculous, but amusing). This game is a decent length, but sometimes gets caught up in some "find the key card" type missions. It can be beat in a good weekend, great if you have a person to switch off with.
D2: D2 is honestly one of the more unique DC games out there. The majority of the time you are playing it, you are actually watching in-game cut scenes. This is NOT a bad thing, but be warned that its going to be LOTS and Lots of watching. The pacing of the cut scenes can be slow at times, particularly with one character. However, the acting is quite good for a '99 game. The plot, like carriers is Japanese horror shtick, but still very amusing. The D2 story is far more complicated. When you are actually playing, however, the game play is fluid and fun. Believe me when I say that you could play this game in the middle of the summer, but the amazing atmospherics and sound will make you shiver like its 22 degrees inside.
Its also nice to mention that both of these games were good looking games for the DC. They both accentuate that classic DC quality that is refreshing and nostalgic.
I am a big fan of weird horror games, and these two stand as some of my favorites ever. I am okay with story based camp, but I don't do well with bad acting or bad production value camp. These games pass in my book. Carrier is in my top 10 DC games, and D2 is a definite must play for any DC owner.

would u say deep fear is woth while?
Re: Between D2 and Carrier
D2 is hands down one of the most atmospheric games I've ever played on any system. I consider it a minor masterpiece but I catch flak from friends all the time for liking 'bad' games.
