Just played the Donkey Kong country for Wii for the first time today, and I am super-impressed. I am a big fan of "old school" platform games, and it's so classic. I enjoy the game play, the graphics are great, and it seems to be a very fun game.
Any other Wii games that follow this type of trend? I just got my Wii for Christmas!

NSMB is definitely a recommendation. I wouldn't recommend the two Kirby games unless you're under 12 since they're too easy. Return to Dreamland is better than Epic Yarn.

It's friggin' Kirby. EVERY Kirby game is piss easy.
Re: DK for Wii! Traditional platforming!
Who cares if it's easy? Epic Yarn is easily one of the prettiest games for the Wii. Very fun too.
Re: DK for Wii! Traditional platforming!
I'll have to disagree with gtmtnbiker, I'm over 12 and I love the Kirby games. Especially Return to Dreamland. On that note, I'm playing through RTD for a second time on the harder difficulty. It's definitely more challenging, especially the bosses. But even if the first play through was on the easy side (and it was, I'm not denying that) that doesn't mean it isn't fun. I had a blast playing through it the first time. Finding all the gears is adds a little challenge. The challenge rooms are fun, and can be challenging if you wanna get the best score. And Ninja Dojo is an amazing mini game.
This thread is awesome. I've been wanting to start a thread asking people to list all the 2D or 2.5D sidescrollers for the Wii.
A Boy and His Blob is a sidescroller too, right? So we can add that one to the list. Any others? Lost in Shadow is another, I think, right?
So here's the list so far:
A Boy and His Blob
Donkey Kong Country Returns
Kirby's Epic Yarn
Kirby's Return to Dreamland
Klonoa
Lost in Shadow
New Super Mario Bros. Wii
Rayman Origins
Wario Land: Shake It!
edit: I also thinks it's definitely worth noting that the Wii also offers some great sidescrollers with WiiWare.
Sonic 4: Episode 1
Mega Man 9
Mega Man 10
Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth
Contra ReBirth
Gradius ReBirth
What others? It's too early for me to think.![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)

Lets not forget about Lost Winds! Its a little less traditional, but still falls into the classic platform catergory IMO. http://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/2f ... 4dpdBV_Nf6

What is that? You have to use the remote's motion control to move the character?
