I'm not sure if I'm the only one who has this problem. But I find lots of really great games at flee markets and thrift stores for really cheap... so what ends up happening is i end up with more and more games and i never play any of them!! and i really dont end up saving any money either beause $4 for a game is a little bit right?? but it's a lot if you buy 8 of them... i started collecting games about 2 years ago.. i started with 15 games and a wii... now i have over 400 and look at my signature!!!
am thinking about forgeting about these places and just buy games on ebay... because maybe if i pay more $$ for them i'll actually value them....
what's you're opinion?
is buying games at flee markets and thrift stores worth it?

In my eyes games have as much value as you place on them, so I don't think buying games for more costly prices on ebay would solve anything. You just have to pace yourself a bit more and concentrate on the games you currently have, you'll be a lot happier that way.DAAAAA!! wrote:I'm not sure if I'm the only one who has this problem. I get what hes saying, he is finding these games "in the wild" for good prices even if these games were not on his want list, so his collection has grown with a bunch of games he might not ever play. I do the same thing, I see a game that i feel that I need to rescue, and it kicks it on my shelf, sometimes becoming trade fodder. I just did this yesterday, grabbing Myst for the Saturn for $3, I have no desire to play it but its a Saturn game to pad out my collection and it was cheap.
If you feel that your collection has grown then go through it and trade/sell what you dont want and try to get the games you really want out of them.

That's why i only get games that i REALLY want, if the game has not been beaten or i didn't touvh it in like 3 months or something like i sell the game. So far no regrets on some sales.
But if you're a collector is a different history

I made a list of games I want for each system and before we go to a thrift store or flea market, I peruse the list again to make sure I know what I want. The only games that make the list are those I have researched and have a good idea that I'd enjoy. I make exceptions from time to time, but not often. If I see a game I think I might like, but it's not on the list, I don't usually buy it-- I research it first and go back for it later if need be.

This is a great idea...for people with self control. lolHyp81 wrote:I made a list of games I want for each system and before we go to a thrift store or flea market, I peruse the list again to make sure I know what I want. I used to have a want list that I carried around with me, it had about 100 games on it
Re: is buying games at flee markets and thrift stores worth
yeah I tend to be more inclined to buy a game I have found in the wild regardless of whether I actually think ill play it or not. finding bargains is half the fun.
Re: is buying games at flee markets and thrift stores worth
I only buy games at flee markets/thrift stores that I want. I've left quite a bit sitting where I found it. Some of them were perfectly fine games, I just didn't care for them. But I will pick up games I've never heard of before if I think it'll interest me (Like Diskwold 2 recently. It just looked neat and it was only $0.50).
Like some others have said, I also have a list of games I want to get, but I don't strictly limit myself to that list. I also have a separate list of rare/expensive games just in case I come across them cheap. You never know. I might end up lucky and find something really nice to hoc.

Yeah I'm the same. I always buy at the fleamarket and I also have hundreds of games that I have yet to tackle.DAAAAA!! wrote:I'm not sure if I'm the only one who has this problem. But I dont care. I have never, and probably never will buy from EBAY! Eventually games do come around locally. I have years of patience.
I have done the occasional amazon buy and other oniline retailers. But pretty much about 80% of my games are from fleamarkets, yard sales and thrift stores. My own collection is all games without cases. I really dont care about owning N64 and NES games complete in box. I just want to have the game. I am not anal about completeness. As long as the disc is not too scratched and the label is nice and clean, then I'm all for it.
There is where the distinction can end. Do you want games CIB or cart only. For complete games; yeah, you can shop Ebay. If you just want to own it to play it, then there are other ways.
I can be chastized for too many games, but why am I gonna spend 50 bucks on a super nes game when I can find it (eventually) for about $8. In years past, I got Chrono Trigger for $8 and Earthbound for $5. And in Mexico once I got Supermario Allstars for $40 pesos, thats $3.40 US! Not to mention getting genesis games and others for very little. Then when you do sell your stuff you have a large margin to sell of your games. you can lower it more to a level that you can accept it. You cant really do that when you paid $30+ for a game.
Yeah eight SNES games at 7 bucks can equal a current gen game. But many of us here on racketboy love older games more than new ones. I just recently got a PS3 and there are too many FPS on it. I have yet to buy a $60 game for it. I am having more fun with my psp and saturn and atari.
I'm not gonna kick my self for not buying a game for 3 bucks to only find out its worth quadruple the amount on ebay.
thats just giving away funds to the ebay sellers. They are making the money selling to less than active collectors.
If you're rich and have money to spend, then go on ahead and splurge on those higher than normal cost games.
But if you're a cheap-ass like me
