Unfortunately it seems Rockstar is hell-bent on this 'serious' approach for the sequel. Those schmucks need to lighten up a bit.

All of these Western Hollywood-style games seem to take themselves way too seriously, which makes them even more of a chore to play.

^The ps2 GTA games didn't take themselves seriously at all.
GTA4 was pretty much disliked by everyone.

RDR's formula worked fine with me, but GTA4 and the episodes just seemed incoherent and sometimes even schizophrenic.

i haven't really enjoyed this series or anything else by Rockstar after Vice City.

I dont understand why no one seems to like GTAIV, its pretty much my favorite
Re: Opinion: Grand Theft Auto IV's incoherence
Same. Although, I did play a tiny bit of Vice City Stories on my PSP, but I don't think I got very far or cared for it much.dsheinem wrote:i haven't really enjoyed this series or anything else by Rockstar after Vice City.

I feel the same way. Granted it DID take the more "serious" approach, but I still dug it the same. It felt like GTA to me...I will be looking forward to 5.
my favorite seems to be 3 though...I loved how the main character did not speak a word and just did the jobs.
Re: Opinion: Grand Theft Auto IV's incoherence
I liked GTA4 but it was nothing compared to Vice City or San Andreas, or more importantly Saints Row 2. SR2 utterly beat it at its own game and I still look forward to SR3 which could maybe be the new king, if GTA5 goes back to the "fun" then maybe it'd have some good competition, but if not... yeah.

I am looking forward to GTA V, I just hope I don't have to babysit the main character's cousin. Roman was a pain in the ass. I just wanted to shoot him and be done with it.
