So, can someone tell me if the glob top on the PCB is the front or back. Thanks!

I took apart my Game Genie trying to see why it won't work in a top loader and forgot to note which side is the front and which side is the rear.

Re: NES Game Genie orientation
I can't believe it can actually fit in both ways. Are you sure? Usually the PCB is keyed so it will only fit in one way. I'll check mine now.
edit: Nevermind, I didn't realize that thing isn't held together by screws. I don't feel like cracking it open.
Should be easy enough to figure out though. This is why the multi meter is an essential. Google the pinout for the NES cart edge, take a note at which side is ground and which side is +5v (I know that one is all the way on the left and the other is opposite). Look for a capacitor on the PCB, or anything you know to be ground or +5v, then check the continuity between that and the pin on the cart edge to figure out which pin is ground. Then you will know which way it's suppose to face.

A pic? Curious what the inside looks like. The Glob Chip should be on the same side as the chips inside an NES cart.

Re: NES Game Genie orientation
That black can capacitor has a grey line on the side, that leg is negative. So that leg goes to ground, and the positive leg goes to the 5v pin.

Re: NES Game Genie orientation
The bottom pins touch the cart further back so glob down since the marks are further on that side. And you're gonna clean that nasty bastard before putting it back together, right?

I think it rotted away. I won't even use it. I need to get weisman's and such. Any other idea to clean it?

Re: NES Game Genie orientation
Looking at the zoomed in pics, the contact pins are still all there though really caked up. Maybe you can salvage it with a very good cleaning.
