Guncon/Guncon2/Component question for PS1/PS2

Post by rattboi »

I'm interested in getting a Guncon1/2 for PS1/PS2. I'm a little confused about how it works and all that though. Does anyone have any good suggestions for a good Guncon2 controller? Can I use Guncon1? Are there any Guncon2 controllers I could use on my PS1?

Also, I have read that you need to get a new video cable to use Guncon? I have so far only found RCA and S-video connectors with them. I wanna play Guncon games, but I don't wanna lose my Component connection to play them! Any suggestions for that?

Suggestions for a good Guncon 2 controller? Well, I think there's only one Guncon 2 model, so you don't really need suggestions on that department. Yes, you can use a Guncon 1 on a PS2, if that's your question, but GC2 has more buttons than GC1, ans some games use those extra buttons, so I guess it depends on the games you want to play.

I'm not sure if a GC2 works on a PS1, though.

Yes, indeed you have to buy a new cable, because the gun has 2 outputs, one usb you connect to the console and one yellow like the ones in composite cables.

What you need is something like this (at least it's what I use), since you have to plug the yellow cable in that box near the start of the cable.

Also these do not work on any lcd/plasma tv's allegedly.
My question is:
Will the guncon 3 be backward compatible with ps2 game running on a ps3?
Will it still work if I enable the 480p mode of Vampire Night?
So many questions, so few replies................

There are 3rd party guns that supposedly work on those tv's.

I've never even seen a Guncon 2 up close but if the picture above is accurate it would appear that it uses a usb port. Last I checked the ps1 don't got one of those.

The only way to deactivate the ray beam and fight back the vampire alien threat is with a complicated series of foot patterns on the device's control board that looks remarkably like a DDR pad. We will all praise this man for saving our lives and buy him a mountain of stuffed animals.

LOL. Good point. Ok, so I need seperate Guncon controllers.

That video adapter looks like SCART. Can anyone give me a link to a US Component cable w/ Guncon adapter?

Some 3rd party controllers have PS1 and USB.

Would the composite jack just work with the Y (green) component cable?
Remember that a Guncon won't work with anything but a CRT TV.
