Anne McCaffrey died today

Post by fastbilly1 »

She died at her home in Ireland today - details are scarce but it sounds like a stroke in her sleep. I have only read a couple of her books, but many of my friends love her works and have every book she ever published. Pern is the reason my girlfriend started reading for fun. She will be missed.

Just thought I would pass along the info.

I haven't read her books since high school, but this made me sad.

Writer (mostly children's stuff, afaik). Most famous for a series about dragons.

I've never read any of the books, but I've always really enjoyed the dragon art on the covers.

One of the most celebrated female scifi authors of all time. She penned over 100 books and was the first woman to when the Hugo and the Nebula. She was really famous in the 70s and 80s. When I was in elementary and middle school everyone read the Pern books.

Very sad news.

Some of you may know this, but there is a Dreamcast game based on her works.

This is sad. I have read most of her works. Her and Piers Anthony are my two favorites. He is getting up there also. Sad times.

Oh, this is so sad...

I started reading her Pern books two years ago on a whim and fell in love with them. I adore fictional novels whose worlds are so huge there are maps involved, and entirely new cultures imagined, and dozens and dozens of characters.

Thanks for letting us know. May flights of dragons sing her to her rest.
