[Saturn] issues with 2 burned JP games

Post by korn16ftl3 »

ok so i got my saturn chipped after a crap ton of fiddling with stuff it works on boot as ANY and ALL mod chips should i grabed a few torrents of some hard to find games and JP only games downloaded them and went to burning to my Memorex media.

it seems ALL the US games work as they should HOW EVER i went on to the JP games and burned Lunar and Lunar II now here is where i run into issues, Lunar II will load but just after the JP text sequence it absolutely REFUSES to go into game play or FMV or what ever is after the sequence as well as Lunar I simply refusing to load at all what so ever.

i have done region patching with no solution to the problem, i can only burn at 8X as it is the slowest my DVD/CD rom burner will burn (and i really dont think the speed nor the media is a factor seeing as how every thing else works just fine) i am currently getting a different copy of lunar (even tho my source for the original DL is 99.9% reliable PM me if your interested (UG) in it or would like to burn and try to play it from my source also for trouble shooting purposes) but i find it VERY hard to believe being that the media seems to work at the speeds i am burning with the US games that i should have ANY trouble at all with JP games....

Any one have any ideas suggestions or similar situations that may help me resolve this situation?

on a side note i also torrented panzer dragoon saga and it doesn't seem to like the Action Replay in the expansion slot (it wont load the game without the ARP taken out) is that a typical thing? if so its rather annoying i would much rather leave my cart in the slot to prevent wear to the cart slot and/or damage/loss of the cart ect

Let me know how this works out for you. I have some burned games that I can put in the drive while system is off and it boots fine, I have others that you must put in after the system is booted and is in the cd selector screen.

Sorry it's been a long time since I used my saturn and was never a big fan of it so it's hardly ever been used since I bought it but whatever that screen is called :)

Neither of the Lunars on Saturn is hard to find at all. Bother are EXTREMELY common and only just a few dollars each.

In order to play the version of Lunar1 you downloaded, you may need to purchase this:

In order to play Lunar2, you may need to purchase this:

It's only about $10-20.

You can load the images in an emulator to confirm that they're not broken. This will help narrow down your problem.

Must have been a broken download i grabbed a different Saturn collection and only snagged Lunar 2 from the list and it seems to work fine when previously it would skip the FMV that starts off with the moon and such now it loaded and played accurately havent tried Lunar 1 yet will be interesting to see if that one works

ya my saturn wouldn't load any thing directly with the racketboy chip and would only say start application may 2 of 5 times i close the lid thing was a pain i just ordered a rob webb chip instead to see if that fixed things now games will only boot via hard reset but 100% sucess rate at loading them

really why not? i find it an interesting system and from my reading the system is loaded with shump games and them are always fun for a quick fix

well Panzar dragoon saga = the 4 disc RPG panzar right?

i do have an actual copy of the japanese version panzer dragoon azel and that thing wont let me play it with an action replay.

how many panzar dragoons are there? I have 2 JP panzar games ( just panzar and Zwei) and neither of them have issues with the AR cart.

thats a good thing to know then one of my favorite RPG games is Lunar and it would be really kool to have each edition of lunar in my collection (sega cd, saturn, PS1, PSP, GBA)

Actually, Panzar Dragoon Saga/Azel is one of the games that DOES have a problem if you are using a PAR 4-in-1 to play it on a different region console. Multi-disc games are like that.

Well, the Japan Mega CD and Saturn versions are all very cheap. I'm not sure about the JP PS1 versions.

the burned copy i am trying to play is of the USA region as is my saturn it just seems that the game its self was programmed to actually reject a cheat device or something really weird

Well, without starting a flame war I have to say that "convienience" is the main factor that keeps it in my closet. Basically I have all 3 Sony's out taking up room and a lot of the games I own for Saturn I also own for PS1.

I also don't have a ram cart and only collect NTSC-U games so that really limits the Saturn in my eyes. I don't think it's a bad system there just isn't anything that really makes me bring it out very often.

I own 2 Different official fight sticks 1 flight stick and the steering wheel & 52 (non burned) games so when I do use the Saturn it comes out in full force gotta get the dust off of everything not just the Saturn :D

Good grief, why? US games are usually way more expensive and a LOT of great games never made it out of Japan. Why limit yourself???
