Parents are lame these days. Let the kids trick or treat.

Post by J T »

It bothers me how every year there are fewer and fewer trick-or-treaters out. It's all these overly protective parents that believe strangers are going to poison their babies or that the holiday will convert their poor babes to Satanism. It's weak. Back in my day, we used to eat caramel covered apples with razor blades in them... and we liked it! It made us stronger. And we sacrificed baby lambs to the dark lord because it doesn't matter what your religion is the other 364 days of the year, that's just what you DO on Halloween. Parents these days are too risk averse and it's ruining the best holiday of the year.

Children need candy. It's programmed into their DNA. Won't someone PLEASE think of the children?

I hated that there were more teenager not wearing costumes than ones who were... I tried to not give them candy unless they could tell me who they were and quote the character they were portraying. My wife yelled at me.
I also hate the parents who drive their kids from house to house. You wouldn't believe the number of minivans that were stopping in front of houses unloading kids only to pick them back up and move to the next house with a porch light on.

and we all are enjoying the candy!

Recently listened to candy.

In all seriousness, I agree with JT, "Children need candy!". That in mind, for everyone driving, please, pretty please with a cherry on top, drive a little slower today and watch for kids on the street (or watch for kids on the curb if you drive like my wife).

I think we dropped...well, we have a lot of kids in the neighborhood so I think we have close to 1,000 bags of candies, but when the bowl runs out it's lights off. Fun Fact: Skittles are a lot cheaper than M&M's in Eastern NC Wal-Marts. Almost half the price.

I do wish I could cause some mischievous activity tonight, but the night will be spent entertaining friends and neighborhood kids.

Making cocktails, "bat" wings, and Spooky Stew. We'll have a spiked apple cider with cloves, a goblin punch, and I don't know what to call it yet but it's grenadine/sprite/vodka/fresh lemon and lime. Should be fun.

Hope everyone has a great Halloween, and that you or your kids don't get that shitty peanut candy wrapped in orange wrappers.

I live in a pretty old neighborhood in Omaha. Used to be mostly italians, now it's mostly mexicans. It's a relatively nice area, definitely not bourgois but also not the ghetto. We usually get lots of trick or treaters. I usually run out of candy. I think it depends on your area.

If you don't want the peanut butter taffy, I'll take it.

Halloween is bullshit. It exists to obligate people to buy lots of candy. Eating lots of candy is unhealthy. I don't celebrate Halloween.

Halloween is awesome. It provides an excuse to buy lots of candy. Eating a pile of candy once a year never hurt anyone.

I'm not big on kids either. But they're cute when they dress up, and on Halloween they leave in under a minute. Pretty much the perfect dose IMO. I also enjoy all the cute young moms coming to my door.

I haven't cared for Halloween in years, but our special little street in the neighborhood doesn't help my apathetic feeling about it I'm sure. For the past few years during Halloween it's pitch black down our street, there are cops constantly going around the place all the time, one of our neighbors in the duplex next to us is in and out of jail or we'll get cops coming to our door asking if they've seen him around, probably some drug dealers around here.

So yeah. Kids never come here. I don't think I really care, but this street sucks and yeah it's obvious trick or treating isn't what it used to be.

Trick or treat. Those are your options.

I've got a 24 pack of toilet paper rolls and half dozen super soakers. Who wants to go to Inazuma's house with me?

My house may be destroyed, but at least I have the ability to think for myself. 8)
