Battlefield 3 ?

Post by AznKhmerBoi »

just curious if anybody here got the game yet?

I am a fan of Battlefield 1943 and thinking about giving this game a shot. I like fps that convey a sense of big war rather than confine areas/space.

I still play Bad Company 2 and really enjoy it. I was so excited for BF3, downloaded the Beta the day it came out, and it turned me off completely.

The BF series has always been sniper friendly, but I feel the prone has completely broken the game up and slows it down more than I find enjoyable. When you pair it with detailed plants and bushes, people lying down in them virtually invisible, it just becomes annoying.

Yes I understand its more realistic, but I think a game like Battlefield needs a balance between realism and entertainment.

Just my 2c. A view that can never be expressed on the net without fan boys jumping up my ass.

I am still tossing up about buying it or not, maybe I will just wait for Bad Company 3.

EDIT: I also dislike the 'unlock everything for every gun' mechanic they have added to make it seem like there are more unlockable items, having to unlock a reflex scope for every gun you unlock is a pain in the ass and a cheap way to say '10 time more unlockables'.

yea i heard Bad Company 2 was really good, but unfortunately i skipped out on that and was playing Battlefield 1943.

I played the beta of BF3 on the ps3, its buggy but isnt that what a beta is though? I dont really what to say because i havent played the final release game.

From the beta point of view it just seem like another fps to me, mainly because the lack of vehicals and semi small map.

My copy (PC) arrived this afternoon. I doubt I'll be playing until the weekend.

@emwearz: I hear you, although I didn't play it at all myself, I've heard of the CoD comparisons and concerns that you died really fast. However, I think you should really read this article if you haven't:
http://www.joystiq.com/2011/10/10/the-b ... tlefield-3

tl;dr: The beta sounds like it was a much rather older version of the game, and from what some reviewers are saying, the real game plays quite a bit differently and more like Bad Company 2.

Quite a funk up on EA or Dice's part if you ask me.

I thought the beta was really fun with all the bugs and glitches. A similar event like this one happened but nothing outrageous like it. I plan on getting it later though when all the big releases that I've been waiting for are released at one time.

I plan to get it for PS3 eventually. It looks fun. Plan to get MW3 as well, although I still need to buy MW2 and Black Ops first.

My PS3 copy arrived today and I hope to play a little bit of the campaign and maybe a multiplayer match before bed. We shall see, as I have a mountain of work to do also....

sad fact: I have had the following games arrive or scheduled to arrive between late September and mid-November:

Bulletstorm
Singularity
Rage
Resistance 3
Battlefield 3
Modern Warfare 3
Halo: Anniversary

I am pretty sure I'll have most if not all of them finished up before the year is over...
