Don't forget this masterpiece. It's a Zero Wing (All your base are belong to us) version.

So what's the occasion? Was this the day the song was released?

Personally, I'm not sure why there's so much rave about this song. I do like the ballad and the hard rock portions of the song but I never liked the opera section of it.

I do think Freddie Mercury has a good voice but I never understood the appeal of Queen. I thought a lot of their songs were dumb such as Bicycle, Fat Bottomed Girls, etc.

The 70s had a lot of interesting experiments with music. I mean, do artists ever create long songs such as Thick as a Brick, Stairway to Heaven, The End, Bohemian Rhapsody anymore?

Because they're one of the best bands ever; Id rather listen to Queen over the beatles any day.

Awards and noms: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_aw ... d_by_Queen

And don't stop me now but the fact gay (and very open at that at times) singer named the band Queen, during the time he lived in shows that Mercury had serious clout. Much like the RHCPeppers, Queen also rarely deterred from their distinct sound, refusing to give in to producers requests. In short, Queen kicks ass whether it's stadium anthems or ballads.

Amen. I've only known one other person who agrees with on this; other than that people think I'm some sort of heretic.

Well I don't hate the beatles, I love a few of their songs. A few. With Queen I know what to expect: incredible guitar solos, a beat that you can feel in your chest, a bass line that somehow never changes but never stays the same, awesome drum fills, and a voice so great that I could give two shits about the lyrics (although I do love a lot of Queen lyrics).

And if Sacha Baron Cohen ends up playing Mercury in the film QUEEN, we'll certainly be hearing a whole lot more Queen in the near future.

Maybe...Or maybe I could give two shits. I'm on a high fiber diet.

The occassion is that I saw the Shatner version for the first time, then thought of other cool versions I had seen, then surfed the web for a few minutes. 8)

And Queen rocks.
