My Retro game room updated pics!

Post by jay_red »

So my Fiance and I had this idea for turning one of the rooms in our house into a game room when we first bought it (almost exactly a year ago!) but we ended up with a room mate instead. Well as soon as he decided it was time to move on we knew we had to follow through with our original idea, and it has come together pretty well so far. This room is in addition to our living room that has all of the new consoles, we even have a music room that has our guitar, basses, drum set and amps.

We plan on hopefully having one of the meetups at our place in the near future as long as we can get enough racket members to drive up to Sacramento!

We started with limited seating, but one of my Fiance's co-workers had a love seat she didnt need and gave it to us (it was practically band new!) so now it feels like its own little living room.

view from the couch, thats a 36 inch CRT that was given to us by my uncle. You can see to the side the 2 console switch boxes, the one on the bottom if for s-video consoles (almost all of them are hooked up this way) the one on top is for anything that I dont have s video for.

we knew we needed something to make this room really pop, and thanks to the fine members here I was directed to these sweet Mario wall decals, and we painted the wall to really make it legit.

The TV stand, CD rack, center table, and gaming chair were all bought at goodwill for a total sum of less than $55!

There are those clings for walls too. I specifically remember Asteroids and think there were at least 3 other themes.

They make those in megaman and donkey kong too. I think it'd be really cool if you made blocks and pipes that act as shelves. But that might be too much.

make the shelving part of the background!

make a step shelf to make it look like the last part with the flagplole before you beat the level.

The decals are great, I had seen them before, but never saw the new super mario bros one, which I like more than the OG mario decals (sorry guys).

We just picked up the perfect TV stand at goodwill for $20 that will house all the consoles nicely, and be sturdy enough for the monster TV.

It'd be awesome if you did the block shelf and then put these lights on each block:

WTF?
It's a tale as old as time. Boy grows up, completely enamored with a computer-generated Italian plumber. He pumps his college fund, in quarter form, into Donkey Kong. Later, he grows inch-thick calluses on his thumbs playing Super Mario Brothers on the original NES. He suffered through Super Mario Sunshine, and has the entire season of Super Mario Adventures, staring Captain Lou Albano as Mario, on DVD. Finally, he marries a nice girl named Pauline, and has three kids: Shigeru, Luigi, and Diddy. Poor Diddy.

how bout something like this to hold your wireless controller.

Image

Also you could dedicate an area of the wall to display your favorite type of controller with variant colors and rarity, like the n64 wall controller i saw on youtube.

Also a coffee table with an image of nes controller or whatever you like would be nice :d
