Post by J T »

This is an interesting article about using the typically suggested methods for improving your PC performance via free software methods VS buying new hardware.

I didnt know about that with Aero. It makes sense though. The question is can I have aero active and still have everything else look like its from the mid 90s?

The article should have mentioned Spyware and expanded on Resource hogs that run at bootup. Any Bootup Background Apps such as messaging or online standby gaming that is deleted will help to speed up the PC.

So, it comes down to overclocking, and everything else is pretty useless.

It does make sense. If you're not displaying the desktop, Aero shouldn't be doing any work rendering the desktop.

my favorite part was how a 30% cpu frequency overclock resulted in a <4% performance gain lol
