Do you prefer steel cases or collector's box?

Post by JC48573 »

Some steel cases are fine, but the ones with the glossy finish can get pretty nasty. If you're not careful enough, you can easily produce surface scratches. I think Collector's boxes are fine too, but you also need to take extra care for them. I think regular cases are more simple and easy to handle.

I'll take any limited edition case over a regular release, if not too expensive. As for steel cases, they are fragile. The plastic resealable plastic wrap used for Japanese DVDs work great to protect the case.

I love steelcases! But yeah, they do scratch easily.

I prefer collector's boxes because I have personally had 2 discs break, and seen many more break be taken out of the steel cases. So much pain.

I don't like steel cases, because they always get a small dent in them somewhere, and then they are never perfect again, no matter how you try to fix it.

So long as the packaging design is well done I don't really care, either way.

I like normal boxes that don't stick out like a cancerous tumor on my shelf.

You'd have hated being a PC gamer in the 90's. One box would be the size of a game console, the next would be a jigsaw puzzle style box, and then another would be a standard jewel case. No real standards until 2000s.
