If I had to pick just one, I'd probably have to go with 1997.
A lot of my favorites of mine came out that year. The ps1 was starting to really show off its rpg power, and the saturn was getting some of the craziest shmup ports.
I remember 1991 and 1992 fondly. In 91 I played Sonic, which was like a magical experience for me. In 92, Street Fighter II and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV:Turtles in Time came out on the SNES. I had been drooling over magazine pics of those two games and eagerly awaiting their release. It blew my mind when I finally had the chance to play two arcade quality ports like that on my SNES. I think those two years made me fall in love with 16-bit gaming
Also, 1999 because of the Dreamcast launch. I bought Sonic Adventure and it was like 1991 all over again.

1995-1996, alot of good SNES games and N64 Launch, i just remember it being a good time.
lets see here there was Super Mario RPG in mid-95, and i can remember getting Donkey Kong Country 2 and Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island along with my N64 /w Mario 64 on Christmas in 1996, then spending Christmas money on Star Wars: Shadows Of The Empire, and Killer Instinct Gold, omg so much fun.
I don't remember a specific year for being the best, just eras. For me, I suppose the 32-bit era brought lots of joy to my younger years. Every year was good though, because I always asked for games for my birthday and Christmas.
1992. This game called Street Fighter II: The World Warrior was in all the arcades and this thing called a Super Nintendo Entertainment System was in my home. As I recall, it was pretty rad.
2000. I was only 11 but i still managed to get so many games when they were first released and after, specifically for the Dreamcast. Crazy Taxi, MDK 2, Dead or Alive 2, Resident Evil Code Veronica, Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, Power Stone 2, Chu Chu Rocket...the list goes on. Oh and all those amazing Square Soft games for the PlayStation.
