Someone was selling a Sliver slim PS2 at a car boot sale this morning, and I couldn't pass this offer up:
Sliver Slim PS2 Boxed (still about £110 in shops from what I've seen)
extra controller, DVD remote, 1 8MB memory card and a 1MB one,
and 14 games:
Devil May Cry
Jak and Daxter
Grand Theft Auto III and San Andreas (The latter also had a guide book)
Kingdom Hearts
Final Fantasy X (also with guide book, there was a FFVIII book as well)
The Getaway
Colin McRae Rally 04
Gran Turismo 3
Tekken Tag
Star Wars Battlefront 2
Star Wars Episode III
Herdy Gerdy
Metal Gear Solid 2
All of that for £55. I've been waiting for a deal this sweet to come along before I got a PS2 and here it is. I'm surprised by how small the thing is: not much bigger than my (soon to be sold off) PSone, and I love how the memory card files are displayed as little animated 3D characters, some of which start crying if you click on delete. XD
I'm probably not gonna keep most of the games, as most of them haven't really reeled me in on first impressions, but I'm liking Kingdom Hearts, for example. Glad it's all in-game combat and not too much like an RPG, although the scadingr hunts are annoying (find 2 mushrooms, 3 fish and a can of baked beans!). Also within the first 1 and a half hours I've only just seen some Disney characters, I couldn't care about all that open the door anime bullshit XD Jax and Daxter is also pretty darn nice, espcially the animation.
Time to sell some of these non-interest games and spend the money on some real gooduns: that being Outrun 2 and We Love Katamari of course! I'm also gonna rent a bunch of stuff like Okami to see what clicks.
Finally got me one of them's PS2 thingys..

I actually think the original Jak and Daxter was the only good one in the series. If you like it, give the Sly Cooper games a try. The first and third ones were the best, but it's more enjoyable to play the whole trilogy. You'll love the slick visual style of those games, memorable characters too. They focus on good old fashioned platforming, with just a touch of stealth based game play and lots of (usually) fun mini-games. One of my favorite series
Kingdom Hearts gets better. There's some memorable stuff in the Aladdin and Peter Pan worlds. The boss fights you'll encounter in the game are fantastic, particularly a certain optional, late game one involving Peter Pan. As you pointed out though, some of the tasks and level designs were a bit lame.
The sequel was a bit more straightforward in moving you through the areas at a faster pace, and it placed more emphasis on improving the combat system. The game's use of reaction commands, which is based off of the button prompt stuff from God of War and Resident Evil 4(and going as far back as Dragon's Lair) is done REALLY well and makes every battle feel a little different.
If you find yourself liking Okami, then you may want to look into playing Beyond Good and Evil, for another great Zelda inspired game
Is one of those memory cards third party? Careful with that, some people have problems with third party cards.

I also liked Jak and Daxter. And the listed games are all great.RadarScope1 wrote:Nice score. I liked Jak and Daxter myself. It's worth a run through. Definitely suggest getting a Katamari game, as well as Ico, Shadow of the Colossus and God of War. Guess those are pretty obvious choices, though.
I thought Outrun 2 only came out on the Xbox??
I think the sequel Outrun 2006 Coast to Coast did come out on PS2 (and Xbox1 and even PSP).
