Arcade Cabs Around Town

Post by o.pwuaioc »

Where have you unexpectedly stumbled upon old arcade cabs? Let's see if we can get a huge list of cool cabs in random places.

For me, that place would be:

Launderland Coin-Op
3828 Macdonald Avenue
Richmond, CA 94805-2244
(510) 237-3352

A few months back, I had to walk to the Wells Fargo because I had forgotten my debit card, and needed to get to San Francisco from Richmond. I was walking along Macdonald when I came across Launderland Coin-Op, and saw inside a couple of cabs. My curiosity piqued, I checked to see what they were. I was pleasantly surpised. They had six cabs:

The first was a Galaga, Pac-Man, Frogger cab. I of course spent all my quarters (I only had 4) on it, playing Galaga for two quarters and Frogger for two quarters.

Image

They also had a Neo Geo MVS, although I can't remember what game this was.

Here was a Taito cab, but since it's Metal Slug 3, I'm assuming it's also an MVS?

Another Taito with Super Bust-a-Move.

They had two other cabs, but they were broken when I was there. Still, if you're in that part of town, chuck a quarter or two in the machines to let them know they should keep them!

This is a great thread idea for one of my recent stories. I was staying in a cabin at the KOA outside Williamsburg, VA two years ago; they have your typical dated "game room" next to the pool. It's empty, of course, and I look in to find four 4-slot MVS machines - all running too!

That reminds me. There is this Round Table Pizza with a Raiden cab which has been there since I was a kid. It is STILL there last I checked (about 5 or 6 months ago). I can't believe it still works because it looks like they don't take care of it too well.

One of the game stores in town has a SFII World Warrior cab and used to have a MvC2 cab as well.

This is an awesome idea. Do you mind if I run with it and make it into a short film? Anyone who finds one within 2 hours of atlanta, would you post an address?
