My Dreamcast Coders Cable

Post by Xeoloux »

I bought a dreamcast coders cable off ebay 2 days ago, $10 buy it now with $3 shipping. In the description he said it was untested which doesn't surprise me since there's a lot of work that goes in to testing one of these. The Serial input is white. On the chip it says Maxim MAX3232CPE 0007 then 5 capacitors.

I remember reading something about a Chinese guy releasing some coders cables or something a couple years ago but what I would like to know is, is this cable a homemade cable if not who made it and where did it come from. Thanks in advance guys I really appreciate it.

Also if someone could point me in the right direction as to how I would go about setting this up that would be great. :D

Here's a picture.

looks exactly like mine. Mine works.

You need to find the iso for the boot disc. Boot your dc off of it. It'll allow your PC to connect to it via the coder cable. Now there's a program for the PC which does the transfer. The purpose of the cable is instead of burning a new disc for every test of a program you're writing you just transfer it via the cable and run the program. Good for debugging 800 different revisions =)
