Games that you know are good but can't be bothered with.
Simple question. Obviously we all like different things and there are some games that are not for us. In a lot of cases people normally class the games that are not into as bad games. Obviously you have a right to an opinion but just because you have an opinion on something doesn't make it so.
Anyway games you know that are good but you could never find time for them:
Mass Effect: On the surface I could see why people were raving over this but the setting, tone, seriousness, characters, gameplay it just wasn't made for me, I gave the game a good 5 hours and I only did that because I had people egging me on to play it but it just wasn't to be. Shame I suppose because Mass Effect has put me off other Bioware games, if Mas Effect couldn't hold me then what chance is there for games like Jade Empire and Knights of the Old Republic.
All Tomb Raider games: I like the Tomb Raider games, I really do, I've spent many years ignoring this series and I have given it a chance, the new games played fine and I still thoughy the first one holds up (some will say the early games have aged to the point of unplayability but I disagree). Anyway no matter how hard I try and I can never really get into the right mood with these games. I keep saying to myself "Yeah I want to play tomb raider and complete it" but as we all know it is easier said than done.
Those are just 2 examples and I doubt I'm the only one who feels this way towards certain titles.

every RPG ever.
I just can't stick with it long enough to finish any of them. I used to be able to...

usually it is games in certain genres that I don't enjoy. See http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopi ... 44&t=31094

Shmups. I just fail to see the point, ultimately. I have gained a certain appreciation for them, and their place within the annals of gaming, and enjoy them much more than I used to... but they would never be my first (or second, or third) choice when I sit down to play.

every RPG besides FF7. i have tried a decent amount: vay, lunar, lunar II, chrono trigger, FF8, shining force, shining force CD, dark wizard, breath of fire, etc. i realize i haven't tried a lot of the must plays, but i just don't like the idea of sitting down and playing for hours upon hours upon hours before the ending credits roll.

FF7, Chrono Cross, Gran Turisimo 2, and Viewtiful Joe. I can tell they're good games, but I just can't force myself to play them through.

I'm willing to try almost anything with one exception... MMORPGs. I hate the idea of a game that never ends and MUST be played with other people the entire time. I would definitely play World of Warcraft if there was a single player mode, otherwise I'm not going anywhere near it. While the fear of losing a big chunk of my life is part of it, it's mostly the idea the time spent wasting my life would be doing very repetitious, boring tasks.
I do like the "god" simulation games though (in terms of games that don't end)... they're highly addictive... but I'm going to assume WoW or Final Fantasy 11 is leagues ahead in terms of addictiveness?
To add to this, I don't I will ever be able to bring myself to play a "realistic" sports, driving, or flight simulator game.

Dragon Quest... Everyone gives me crap about not playing any of them.
(FC, AVFC, NES, SFC x2, SNES, N64, GC x2, Wii x2)*(G&W x7, GB, GBpocket, GBASP, DS-L x2)
(GEN, SS x3, DC x3)*(PCE-Duo)*(Xbox:500GB)*(NGCDZ, NGPC)*(PS1, PStwo, PS3:160GB, PSP.3K)

Eh, apples and oranges almost. I am a big fan of the Mass Effect games but compared to KOTOR and Jade Empire they are really streamlined and lack the RPG elements that were stronger in Bioware's older games, the old Baldurs Gate games obviously but yeah even KOTOR and Jade Empire are really really different than Mass Effect I'd say. As much as I love Mass Effect, I'm kind of irked we might not ever get a KOTOR 3, at least for awhile, and instead right now we're getting an MMO which I won't care about at all since I strongly dislike the genre.GigaPepsiMan wrote:Mass Effect: On the surface I could see why people were raving over this but the setting, tone, seriousness, characters, gameplay it just wasn't made for me, I gave the game a good 5 hours and I only did that because I had people egging me on to play it but it just wasn't to be. I've only played tiny bits of a few of them, but yeah I have feeling this franchise might not be for me at all, too grindy. lolD.D.D. wrote:Dragon Quest... Everyone gives me crap about not playing any of them.
