Are these straight up PS1 digital copies or what?
Would say FF7 bought on the PSN just skip right over the load screen that says "insert disk 2"?
Any other changes or things that are different? Also this is probably a stupid question but has the PSN version been formatted for widescreen or the PSP screen?
If Suikoden 2 is ever released (not holding my breath) on PSN do you think save files will transfer like they did for the PS1? Just rambling on now...

Re: PSN PS1 Classics
As far as I know, nothing in any of the games has been changed, except that you don't have to change discs anymore. The screen ratio is exactly the same as it is in the original disc versions.

Yes.

I haven't played a multi-disc game yet so I can't really answer that. However, the discs are all on one file so I'm assuming that you'd get to the "Insert Disc X" screen, press any button, and continue playing.

Not a stupid question at all.
All PS1 Classics (as far as I know) retain the original 4:3 screen ratio. However, when playing a game you can adjust the settings by pressing the "Home" button. This will allow you to zoom in the screen and even stretch it out into a pseudo-widescreen. (This isn't true widescreen, mind you.)

If you want a better PS1 experience on your PSP I recommend making back-ups of your PS1 games and transferring them to your PSP. North America's PSOne Classics selection kinda sucks, imo. Pretty much the only way you'll see Suikoden II on your PSP is putting your own copy on there.

They definitely should, assuming you can get the utilities to transfer the files over from place to place somehow. Dunno if you have a PS3, but you can create virtual memory cards on there, select slots 1-2 at anytime while in a PS1 game, and there's third party adapters you can buy that I got letting me transfer all my memory cards saves to the PS3 harddrive. The PS3 treats them just like normal memory cards, so games that look for memory card history should definitely see the saves when you've got that virtual slot selected.

I keep forgetting those are there, one day I'll have to get Theme Hospital.

When you get to a section to change disc's you would just tap the PS button to bring up the settings menu (this menu you can add smoothing and change your screen ratio to 16:9 or 4:3) and if the game you are playing is a multi-disc game you can select your disc.
To summarize you do change the disc, just digitally.
Re: PSN PS1 Classics
IIRC among the niche features you can't do with PSN versions is use Pocketstation. I don't think Sony ended up properly supporting that on PS3.

Re: PSN PS1 Classics
as Opa Opa and others said, yes, the classics are direct digital copies of the ps1 disks. This means any bugs or issues with the original are present in these versions unfortunately =(
huh? Am i missing something? How would you do this? I would LOVE to play suikoden II on my PSP. I have the original disk, iw asn't aware there was a way to rip it to the psp. I was actually considering getting the JP import of it. Ive played it enough i may be able to understand whats going on

1) Use ImgBurn to make either an .iso file or .cue/.bin file.
2) Use your digital back-up in conjunction with the program PSX2PSP to create an eboot file which the PSP recognizes as a game.
You need to have a custom firmware to run your own games though.
For help with that go to http://wololo.net/wagic/cfw4dummies/
edit: and FYI, not every game is compatible. A quick google search will yield a list of game compatibility.

Re: PSN PS1 Classics
ah your talking about that custom firmware stuff. No dice, i dont have a psp 2000 or lower. Looks like its the JP version of suikoden II for me. Honestly i wish the psp at least let you rip your UMD games to a memory stick, yeesh. Or they all came with a digital copy, like BD movies do. Is that so hard to do?
