Super Nintendo 20th Anniversary

Super Nintendo Turns 20!

The Super Nintendo turns 20 this month! 20 years of the world's greatest system of all-time, IMO. 20 years of the best 2D library of games in gaming history.

What are some of your favorite SNES moments and memories? What are your favorite games?

In honor of the 20th Anniversary, here's my personal top 20 list of SNES games:

1. Super Mario World
2. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
3. Super Metroid
4. Donkey Kong Country
5. Super Mario All-Stars (Collects all 3 NES Super Mario games, plus the Japanese-only SMB: Lost Levels)
6. X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse
7. Actraiser
8. Doom (yeah, it may be the worst version out there, but it's still Doom and it's still fun as heck and I played the heck out of it when I was younger.)
9. Super Street Fighter II
10. Ninja Gaiden Trilogy (Collects all 3 NES Ninja Gaiden games)
11. Mega Man X
12. Super Castlevania
13. Sim City
14. Maximum Carnage (Spider-Man & Venom)
15. Raiden
16. Marvel Super-Heroes: War of the Gems
17. The Death & Return of Superman
18. Super Mario Kart
19. Star Fox
20. Mortal Kombat 2 & 3 (Can't decide which one was better)

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

1. Link to the Past
2. Super Metroid
3. Seiken Densetsu 3

I could list probably like 50 games, but these might be my top 3 picks. In terms of replayability and everything. Feels like I always gotta play these games at least once a year.

In all the reformats, computer switches, and things like that I've done in the last 10 years, SD3 is always the first game I download.

You guys know me, I love the SNES!

I wont bother to list my favorite games, they'll be mostly repeats, so I'll just mention a few odd balls, that don't get mentioned much, that are amongst my favorites. Mario Paint, E.V.O., DKC2, Aladdin, and Hook. DKC2 might get mentioned under the umbrella of the trilogy, but I'm defining it as my favorite in the trilogy.

*gasps* none of you dare put down Yoshi's Island?

let me put down my top amount if I can remember them as I grew up with an SNES but it became overshadowed in my life when the PlayStation came.

1. Super Mario RPG Legend of the Seven Stars
2. Super Mario World 2 Yoshi's Island
3. Mega Man X
4. Mortal Kombat II
5. Donkey Kong Country I and II ( sorry III :( )
6. Super Street Fighter II The New Challengers
7. Super Mario World
8. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV Turtles in Time
9. Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighter
10. WWF Wrestlemania

Though my favorite games are rpg's, I wasn't involved in rpg's until the PlayStation era hit me, so when I played Super Mario RPG Legend of the Seven Stars, the rpg system felt like drugs to me.

Agree, at least a little mini review of each game listed would make sense.

Better would be people telling stories about obtaining favorite games or fond memories and whatnot.

For instance: My friend gave me my SNES back in the day as a Christmas present. Never been a big gift giver or receiver and getting a $100+ gift between middle class friends (not even my best friend at the time I'll admit) was crazy. I've owned the system since and love it. Unfortunately I discovered a few years later that his mom was a habitual hot check writer so I received stolen goods. :x It was a little late to do anything about it by the time I found out and now it made sense why they moved all the time.
