So lately i've been thinking about selling my PS3.
Currently I own zero, yes zero, games for the system. I only use it to play PSone Classics, not discs. I have played several next gen games such as MGS4, Bioshock and Arkham Asylum but I really haven't been bowled over with any of the exclusives. Most modern titles I seem to be able to run just fine on my windows desktop, e.g Bioshock Portal 2 etc.
I was thinking of selling up and using the money to buy a PSP with video out if I want to play on a TV. It's my understanding that I can still access the PSN store from the PSP and PC and so my classic titles will transfer over. I also seem to be drawn to a lot more titles on the PSP, principally the Monster Hunter series, SFA3, Darkstalkers and the wealth of RPGs available.
So....what do you guys think? Is there anything in the PS3 pipeline I don't know about? Is there a specific PSP model I should go with?

Re: Should I Sell My PS3
If that's the case, go ahead and sell it. Get a PSP 1000/2000/3000 (I personally recommend the 3000), but not a Go. If you haven't been impressed by what the PS3 has brought so far, nothing coming up is going to change your mind.

I would add that my PS3 serves primarily as a blu ray player.
I don't know if you care at all about the format, but its something to consider before letting it go.
Especially since the PS3 will probably never be out of date like some older players.

Re: Should I Sell My PS3
You can also sync a PS3 controller with a PSPgo. I would recommend that as many PS1 games make use of 2 analog sticks or L2/3 and R2/3 buttons.
I just bought a PSP 3000. The buttons feel better than the PSPgo to me, but I am not sure if I can connect a PS3 controller to it. Because of that, I have not tried many PS1 games on my PS3 yet. I can, however, confirm that the PSP component cables work great. PS1 games look exactly the same as if they were being played on an actual PS1.
I should also note how easy it is to soft mod the PSP if you wan't to play PS1 games that are not available on the PSN store. Currently my PSP has a 32GB memory stick with 33 PSP games and 8 PS1 games along with various Neo Geo, Genesis, and SNES games. Still working on getting PC Engine CD games working. I plan on buying a bunch of the games I have downloaded once I sort out what I am enjoying.

Re: Should I Sell My PS3
Have you bought any of the exclusives on PSN that are not PS1 classics? If not your missing out on some great games. Also, you can not sell your PS3 if you have not beaten the best RPG of the generation, Demon's Souls. And if you don't have a 360 then you will want to keep your PS3 around for what will most likey take the new spot as the best RPG if the generation, Dark Souls.
Re: Should I Sell My PS3
Looks like only the PSPgo syncs with a controller and i'm not about to step onto that sinking ship.
I looked into Demons Soul as I liked the premise, however my life is too hectic to warrant a time-sink like that.
The one thing telling me to hold on to the PS3 is the new team ICO game, however if current PS2 prices are anything to go by, I might as well wait until we're well into the next generation to pick up that title.
Looks like i'll be splashing out on a PSP then, any hardware recommendations? The prices for the 3000 seem a little extravagant to me although I know I would use the TV out. 2000 models seem to be scarce at best.

Re: Should I Sell My PS3
I wouldn't because you eventually may find games you like on it and you also will not get that much for it unless it's a BC model.
(FC, AVFC, NES, SFC x2, SNES, N64, GC x2, Wii x2)*(G&W x7, GB, GBpocket, GBASP, DS-L x2)
(GEN, SS x3, DC x3)*(PCE-Duo)*(Xbox:500GB)*(NGCDZ, NGPC)*(PS1, PStwo, PS3:160GB, PSP.3K)

Re: Should I Sell My PS3
yeah, I second noiseredux. Avoid the phat PSP if you want the TV out function. The TV out only works on 2000 and later models.
Also, the 2000 onwards has 64 mb RAM (compared to 32 on the phat), which helps with homebrews, particularly Remotejoylite (which allows you to connect your PSP to the PC through the USB and play using the PC's monitor and your keyboard/usb gamepad). I used to do this a lot when I'm just going to play at home. Saves the battery because the screen can be turned off while playing, and I can button mash like hell without worrying about wearing out the PSP's buttons (generic usb gamepads for the PC are much easier to replace)

I'll just pipe in to agree with post people here. If you don't like modern games much, and if you don't use the PS3 as a media center (why not? it's awesome for that!), then don't keep it.
I thought you could use a PS3 controller on a PSP-3000... Anyway, you CAN use PS3 controllers on a computer. So, if you have an extra one or two, I would keep those. They can be pretty useful.
Of course you can play your downloaded PS1 games on the PSP. I have a PSP-3000 and it is wonderful. It is very easy to soft mod it to run emulators and PS1/PSP/etc. games. Even if you have the PSP game disc, running a ripped copy saves on battery life.
It's a very nice system.
I own a total of ZERO PSP games. I use it for PS1 and older games. It's basically a portable emulator machine, MP3 player and portable video player for me. Love it.
