My Fledgling PS2 Collection (Updated 9-12-11)

Post by DomitorInvictus »

Hello there. Recently, I have gotten back into gaming after a hiatus of a couple of years, and I figured collecting PS2 games would be a good place to start, as it is one of my all-time favorite consoles. There is nothing special about this (very) small collection of games... yet. ;)

I am more interested in fighting, action-adventure, beat-em-ups, hack-n'-slash, platforming games, shmups, and I have been trying to get into RPGs. Right now I am only rounding out my collection with the games that I would like to play.

Any thoughts and or suggestions are welcome.

A great start. I would deffinetly clean up stickers though. Congrats on getting everything Black Label too. I would suggest the God of War games, as I think they are beat um ups. I'm not sure on your opinion of those games though.
Systems: Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, N64, Gamecube, Xbox 360

WTB: Boxes for a silver Gamecube System(and a hyperport cover), and a box for an Ice Blue N64 console. Will pay 7.50 for each and shipping.

Are you avoiding Greatest Hits games, or is it just chance that all your games happen to be black label?

Thanks. I will get around to the time-consuming process of peeling the stickers off eventually. And I love the God of War games.

I am avoiding Greatest Hits games. I don't like the look of the altered box art, and it irks me to know that they aren't originals. I've also read that the packaging of the Greatest Hits versions are inferior to the Black Label versions, but I don't know if that's true.

The packaging is identical, so no worries if you ever end up with one. The only difference is the red label plastered all over the box art and the disc.

There are some games that only came in greatest hits editions, like Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition.

Which, by the way, I recommend.

Yeah, some GH have additional content. Another example is Silent Hill 2 which is, by the way, a game I highly recommend. The GH came with an additional scenario starring one of the supporting characters.

I did not know GG Isuka came out on PS2! I have X2 and Accent Core. Great start. Those are all solid games.

It's definitely a good start.

Since you said you liked fighting games, I'd like to make a few suggestions:

Arcana Heart
Neo Geo Battle Coliseum
Soul Calibur 2
Street Fighter Alpha Anthology
Virtua Fighter 4 (the Greatest Hits version, VF4: Evolution, offers some solid changes and is also worth picking up, but only comes in the Greatest Hits packaging).

You might also consider fighters like Bloody Roar 4, World Heroes Anthology, KOF: Maximum Impact, or the 3D Mortal Kombats if you're into those.

Nice Start :) I really enjoyed the ratchet and clank games when I played on my PS2. The sly cooper games are a little more childish but are also great games. Battlefield 2 modern combat is a great shooter. I believe that there are a few kingdom heart games for PS2. Me and my buddies used to love playing those.
