Anyone Here Own Raiden III for PS2?

Post by BurningDoom »

I just popped this bad-boy in my PS2 yesterday to play it because I had just dedicated a few weeks to Raiden Trad on Sega Genesis. When the disc is spinning, it is VERY, VERY loud. This is not happening to any other PS2 games I have, and I have a LOT of them.

I just wanted to check and see if this was normal with this particular game, or should I started setting aside a little cash to by myself a new PS2?

hmm. Now that you mention it, I feel like I remember thinking the same thing about my copy. It's been a while though.

Raiden III is on a CD instead of a DVD, right? CD games are notorious for being loud in PS2 drives.

I have a copy of Contra SS that is horribly loud. Disc is likely off balance. I also have a Raiden Fighters Aces that is the same way.

Ditto to what everyone else is saying, I think I remember playing this one with headphones through my TV and it was insanely loud. lol

I don't remember it being louder than any other game I have o.o

But then again I think my unit is like the model that doesn't suck about reading CD games lol.

I actually just pulled my copy to examine it, but yes, it's a blue-backed CD. I don't think mine makes much noise, but then I've never gotten very far in it.

PS2 Raiden III is a Blue CD, even though it is stamped as a DVD on the label. To avoid wear on the PS2 it can be installed using the crossover ethernet cable method. Play the game with HDAdvance/HDLoader.

A great unknown treat
A unique feature is playing both players with one Dual Shock. Left Analog Stick and L Triggers for one ship. The right Analog Stick and R Triggers for the other ship. 8)

This is the only opened new game that I ever bought from Gamestop. The only way to get a CIB, I almost killed the employee when he tried to put a round sticker on it. Details in the link at the quote below.
http://racketboy.com/forum/viewtopic.ph ... 67#p403967

Left Analog, L1 and L2 = Player One
Right Analog, R1 and R2 = Player Two

For game mode Press
You can work both ships, this so much better then random good luck bullet hell shumps. Some real skill involved here! I do miss the giant crawling crab tanks from Raiden Project though.

Odd that the disc says DVD but is a blue CD. Just like the game Half Life Blue CD, this will not direct install thru HDAdvance/HDLoader. Looks like I'll have to pull an ISO from the PC direct crossover cable Ethernet method.

EDIT UPDATE
ISO IMG Crossover cable worked beautiful!
