Video Game Enigmas

Post by insanecow0 »

What are some aspects of the game industry, games themselves or decisions made in the game industry etc. that you are perplexed about? I never understood why not a single Initial D game was brought to the states outside of arcade cabinets, since the franchise is so successful.

Initial what? ;) That's probably the real reaction in the states since I'm fairly sure the comic nor anime (movie?) never came out in the US.
 (FC, AVFC, NES, SFC x2, SNES, N64, GC x2, Wii x2)*(G&W x7, GB, GBpocket, GBASP, DS-L x2)
(GEN, SS x3, DC x3)*(PCE-Duo)*(Xbox:500GB)*(NGCDZ, NGPC)*(PS1, PStwo, PS3:160GB, PSP.3K)

Anime did for sure at least. I remember seeing it on the shelves a bunch when I used to rent anime dvds fairly regularly.

I'm still perplexed as to why region locking still exists.

Yeah but when did you start to see it in the US?
My wife started reading the comics since like 15 years ago or so and I think the anime started a few years after the manga.
That's the kind of time difference I meant.

I thought it was more popular in the states than that. I'm also confused as to why region locking is still around, hopefully Nintendo and Microsoft will follow Sony's example and remove it, but I sort of doubt it.

Reverse importing. If game/anime X retails for $100 in Japan but $60 in the US then even when you account for shipping you save money by buying from the US.

With this being the "digital era" though it's time for this to go. Meh.
