any artist interested in collaborating on VG web comic?

Post by geozeldadude »

i've idly been thinking about starting a VG web comic, but i can't draw. i might go the sprite route, but first i thought i'd just see if anyone happened to be interested. FYI, i'm more of a nintendo guy so would prob. focus the comics on those games. cheers.

I would be interested, except my drawing skills aren't so great either. I love drawing comics, however. I plan to take a drawing class this year, so if for some strange reason you can't find someone to draw for you for about a year, contact me.

Not to be rude, but if you really do want to make a video game webcomic [of which there are many, many others already], then at least watch this video to avoid some of the common pitfalls of doing so: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/ ... -Webcomics

[I am not mocking you; if you want to make a comic, then more power to you. Just be aware that in order to make a good webcomic, you have to do it consistently, do it well, and do it consistently well. Even better, do something notably different than what everyone else is doing.]

I love webcomics, and I'm looking forward to yours, if you decide to go through with it. Care to share a sample script?

haha. that video was pretty funny. i def. question the need to subject the internet to yet another video gaming web comic, but i don't think i'd be too much worse than the average. what i really want is a return of pixel pals (http://www.i-mockery.com/pixelpals/archive.php) but since that isn't going to happen any time soon i'm left to take matters into my own hands. ha.

on a more general note, what are the better VG web comics out there right now? i like http://brawlinthefamily.keenspot.com/. http://awkwardzombie.com/ isn't bad either.

On that note, does anyone know if there are any retro themed game comics? I've been thinking of making one due to the total lack of any I could find.

I'd say Penny Arcade is the big one. VG Cats is okay, but I haven't read through all of it as it gets grating pretty early on. As I'm a Pokémon fan, I also read Pokémon-X, Rare Candy Treatment, and Super Effective. BitF, like you said, is a good one as well.

If you're into Pokémon, Pokémon-X is set entirely in Hoenn. Otherwise, I'd say your closest bet is SpaceBooger's strip.

Thanks for the plug! My comics are hit or miss... and many do revolve around retro games. If you have an idea for a SpaceBooger strip let me know I would love to have guest writers.
