Console Rack Recommendation Needed

Post by daskrabs »

I'm putting together a gameroom and I need a rack for my seven consoles:

ps1
ps2
nes
n64
dreamcast
xbox
cable box

The cheaper, the better. Need something off the shelf, so to speak. Something like an audio component rack, but less than $100. Thanks.

I'd start with Ikea if I were you.

A recent post, maybe these should be merged instead of a repeat of answers?

build your own shelf, it's inexpensive (far cheaper than $100 for sure), easy, and will fit your needs far better than any store bought shelf.

well that's why I suggested Ikea. Their shelving is all customizable. And pretty cheap.

I'll second DIY entertainment center. Unless WAF or lack of construction resources/ability impeeds that. You get EXACTLY what you need and no "making" ir fit. I had a need to have two CRT's side-by-side, and nobody makes a beast like that. I thought of using a coffee table and adding shelves below, but the weight issue made that a no-go.

From your post, you are just looking for a unit to hold the consoles, not a display device. Something along these lines?

Are you wanting wall mount? Or will something like what cptfishstick build will work (very nice btw).

Yes, something like that would work, albeit with more shelves. I have a stand for the CRT and receiver. Wall mounting is not needed. Like I said, I'd rather not build something.
