Steam is a free platform for digital distribution. Many newer games require Steam to play, but all your Steam games will install under the main Steam program. There's also a ton of other games available on Steam.

Steam is free. The games cost money, but the Steam client does not. It is like i-tunes for videogames.

If you are having problems with Arkham Asylum they will likely still be there in the Steam version as well, unless your game needs to be patched, in which case you should look on the publisher's website for updates.

the torrented disc i am playing has a bug where a few grapple hook targets are removed and some maps are loaded incorrectly. These issues exist in the illegally distributed versions.

Reminds me of the original ISO of Deus Ex. They removed some of the sound files to save on space, which broke the game entirely. To get to the second mission you interact with a boat, which plays a sound file and then a cutscene takes over. If the sound file is not found the cutscene never plays.

Maybe you should have paid for the game like a good boy, instead of stealing.

lets not get into a pirate vs. anti-pirate debate here. the post is about steam. :|

anyways, even if the price seems a bit too much for you right now, steam always has really awesome sales...and quite honestly Arkham Asylum is one of those games that seems to always be on sale on steam.

Steam also has some nice features, such as auto updating and the Steam Overlay, which, in supported games, allows you to pull up the client to be able to do in-game messaging between everyone on your friends list, whether they be in-game or not. The sales on Steam are pretty epic; frequently stuff is 50-75% off during their twice yearly massive sales. GOG ranks higher than Steam by virtue of there being no DRM, but Steam DRM is pretty damn lightweight and you get a lot of benefit along with the restriction.

Jeez I'm saying I want to buy the game. What else do you want?

So if I buy on steam and my hdd is erased can I just download it again? Or back it up?
