I really like the idea of Steampunk, and I have been sampling a bit of the genre lately. I was just wondering if there were other Steampunk fans here, and what are the best novels in the genre?
Steampunk Reading Material, Please.

I think some of Jules Verne's sci-fi books fall into that genre.

Check out Cherie Priest's Clockwork Century books. Civil war era steampunk. I believe the first book in the series is called Boneshaker, but check in to it.
George Mann also has a victorian london steampunk series. The first book in the series is called the Affinity Bridge. So you might check that out.
Also by George Mann is an awesome book called Ghosts of Manhattan. Its more Noir style Superhero stuff, but it has elements of steampunk tech, and I loved it.
I have more, but I'll get back to you when I remember them.

The "His Dark Materials" trilogy kind of fits with the steampunk rules.

Gibson and Sterling's The Difference Engine is probably one you should check out if you like steampunk.

Which brings up the much more difficult question of "Which games should be defined as Steampunk?" Very few games have outright labeled themselves as such, except for a couple indie games. There are games that fit squarely within the parameters of the genre, such as the Professor Layton series or Skies of Arcadia, but there are many more games that have art direction that lies right on the thematic border, like Final Fantasy VI, which many people do consider Steampunk, and many people just consider some sort of Neo-Fantasy.kingmohd84 wrote:i LOVE steampunk
