I have had the n64 for almost 3 weeks now and I must say the system has me really hooked. I love the thq wrestling games and I am hooked on robotron 64. I am trying to get all the mario's and I just got both the zelda's. The camera does suck for some games but there is so many classics on this system.
I really wished I got into the system when gamestop was throwing these games for 50% off. I want to pick up conker's but i am going to have to wait till I find one cheap.
Does anyone also agree this is one hell of a system? No scratches on cd's The s video really helps with the games. Multi player on golden eye and mario kart is still great even better than wii version imo. And wcw revenge and wwf no mercy and wrestlemania are THE BEST WRESTLING games I have ever played. The roster on the games are awesome especially the wcw revenge. Just legends. I love this system. Off to play banjo. Thanks for reading

The N64 is my favorite console. I've had one for about two or three years and there are still a lot of games I want to get.

The N64 is my #1 console. Yes, it is not bad at all.

I'm not sure why anyone would label the N64 as a bad system.

I've seen massive Final Fantasy fanboys do it, and other people heavily invested in the PS1, but not many others.

I hope not i missed the n64 era.I was all about the ps1 and saturn during that time. Even though I loved my fighters and shooters back then , now I have my modded xbox andI have all that now. I havent stoped playing the n64 and my ps3 is collecting dust lol
Re: The n64 is not a bad system at all.
It's not bad at all, but I haven't touched it in like 10 years. The PSX on the other hand has flawlessly stood the test of time for me.
Re: The n64 is not a bad system at all.
I must admit that I often do neglect my N64 collection, but it really is a better system than a lot of folks give it credit for. There are some complaints that make sense though:
The controller design bothers some folks. Of course, this is true about just about every console for someone, be it the Atari 2600, Genesis, SNES, N64, PlayStation, Dreamcast, Xbox, Gamecube, etc.
Certain genres were considered to be sorely underrepresented, with fighting games and RPGs being the two cited the most. This claim in general isn't actually true of fighters though. Of 387 games released across all regions, 24 are fighting games, or at least are close enough to count, meaning that about 6% of the total list is fighters. Considering that the American game list is closer to 300 titles, and that 20 of the 24 fighters were released here, about 7% of the NTSC-U library is composed of fighting games. Comparatively, of the roughly 720 SNES games released in the US, about 45 are fighters, or again about 6%. The problem is the fighters on the N64 are generally considered to be of lesser quality and as a result are forgotten. The RPGs claim is generally held to be true however. Survival horror is also sorely lacking, though it's not mentioned much since it's a niche genre.
The dated graphics also bother some people.
That said, I like the Nintendo 64. Every time I go back and explore its library, I find something else that interests me enough to at least try.

It's not a bad system, but, in my opinion, not a great system. It's good.
The controller isn't great, but nor it is bad. The Hori Mini-pads fix pretty much all the issues most people have with the original controllers. The system is decent with some flaws, as I see it. There are some WONDERFUL games on it, but overall the selection of games is lacking. Fortunately, the top games on the system really are must-haves for any retro gamer (hell, any gamer altogether!). For a retro gamer, it is a must-have system.
Yes, the six (including two Japan-only) AKI wrestling games are probably the best wrestling games ever released for any system ever. It is an absolute shame that these games are not being made anymore.
