I Found Myself on Street View, Woo!

Post by hashiriya1 »

I thought I'd kill some time at work by 'driving' around on Google Street View.
I do this often, usually in places I've never been to before but I was feeling
nostalgic and wanted to drive around the neighborhood I used to live in.
I 'drove' my route to work and I found myself pulling into the 7-11 I always
stopped by to buy breakfast, snacks, smokes, drinks, etc. This was my
convenience store of choice and I stopped there almost daily.

This pic had to have been taken between March 2008 and January 2009 since
that Suzuki Wagon-R was my weekday car/beater during that time. It couldn't
be the guy I sold it to because I sold the rims separately.

Anyway, I thought I'd share. Have any of you spotted yourself on Street View?

Haha, that's neat.

At one point the satellite view showed snow on my parent's house. Keep in mind this is the Texas coast and it barely snows here, much less sticks.

I noticed that 90% of the cars I saw were wagons and micro vans. It was also amusing that the taxis were all sedans that were styled like late 70s or early 80s cars. I suppose like the retro looking taxis in London.

Ha, that's cool.

I've found pictures of my vehicles out in front of different homes I've had (some satellite pictures are quite old it seems) though I've never seen myself.

I did however, find my dad on a street view picture. The photo was taken a moment after he'd stepped out of his truck and was walking up to his house.

We were all pretty amazed by that.

I'll see if I can find it again.

Edit: I found it. Check this out.

That's my dad. Though I was mistaken earlier, as that's actually my truck in the picture. I don't remember why he was driving it though. And yes, that is a pile of rocks in his driveway. This picture is 3+ years old, and he'd just moved into that house. The backyard was unfinished at the time. My wife (girlfriend at the time, we weren't even engaged yet) and I hauled all of those rocks to the backyard, so it looks much nicer nowadays. :D

The google street car was in my neighborhood a couple weeks ago at the ice creamdown the street.
I just checked and the street view image is the same one from 08, I keep checking for the updated one since I know the car was in my hood and drove down my street to get ice cream.

Yeah, that is the Japanese suburbs for you. Everybody drives kei cars or wagons/vans. Only in the big cities most people drive expensive sedans.
