Video Game Collection Value

So with upcoming move I've had to do another game collection assessment. And with that assessment comes another figure to my home owners insurance with the value of my video games.

Now I know there have been other sites and suggestions on how to assess a single game or a group of games. But how do you do it when your collection is 1200+ physical video games, 60+ systems, and countless accessories? And that's not counting over 120+ digital games too.

My original calculations, over the years, is to take the common value of each system and multiply it by the number of games. For example:

10 Xbox 360 games X $25 = $250

Though now my personal collection is now including video games and systems that have no certain value. IE, Xbox Debug Kits and Prototype Games. Where is that current value?

So basically, for this next year I did those same estimate and submitting these current numbers. Rounded off of course:

Systems: $6,000
Games: $17,000
Accessories: $2000

Ground Total Value: $25,000

Again, all for insurance purposes.

I think you did a pretty good job. Just take the time, look over your collection, estimate what things are worth, take notes, and do the math. You have a general idea of what everything is worth.

I have about the same number of games and systems myself, and I know I'd be able to estimate the value myself.

Digital games have zero value.

I've done this very thing several times. My current estimate is about $3500 for everything. The bulk of it being games.

I doubt I'll ever get anything near as much as you have but then again, I never thought I end up this far either.

I don't think this would be covered by home-owners insurance. You'd need Collectibles Insurance, no?

Not that hard to achieve if you buy cheap lots and have people that tend to give you systems... and you clean them up and never get around to selling off duplicates... and you keep dead ones for parts.

I'm at 73 right now. 8 of which are dead or temporarily out of commission. For 3 of them I have parts, just haven't made time.
