WHO plays fishing games?
personally, I can't understand the appeal of a fishing game. I just don't get it. BUT I see that there's tons of them out there. Yet, I don't know anybody who plays them. So in a way I'm fascinated that there's this whole little weird nitche that I know nothing about. I'm fascinated that something that sounds totally boring to me could be excited to somebody else. So, does anybody play fishing games? Is the appeal something you could explain?

Re: WHO plays fishing games?
growing up a buddy of mine used to play some bass fishing game on the SNES. his dad was big into fishing and used to take him out a lot. so that's probably why...

Re: WHO plays fishing games?
Which fishing games are you referring to?
RPG-ish games like Legend of the River King? Or arcade-y games like Sega Bass Fishing?

My brother always played fishing games growing up and seemed to really enjoy them. He had some on PC and at least one on N64. As far as I could tell it was due to the fact that he found fishing really interesting whether real or virtual. I never enjoyed fishing in real life so the games were always unappealing.

That's something that I've always wondered a bit but never really given any though to.
Personally, I usually enjoy fishing mini-games in other games because they tend to give you great bonuses or something equally beneficial. The Sims, Pokemon, I believe Okami, and Harvest Moon all had fishing mini-games off the top of my head. However, I can't imagine playing a game just for fishing outside of a larger game.

Fishing in Animal Crossing is loads of fun. The only fishing game I play is Sega Bass Fishing cause its my only DC game

I'm imagining that there's a significant overlap with the people who play deer hunting games. Sometimes an outdoorsman can't get outdoors, I guess.

The only difference between video game fishing and real fishing is that in video game fishing, you don't get to eat the fruits of your labor. So I only fish for reals.
