Dreamcast Backups - Advice Needed

Post by Leaf »

Hey everyone, I'd really like some advice here. There's someone on eBay selling a Dreamcast with 40 backup games and... a backup enabling disc. Is this seriously all I need to be able to play them all? I won't have to melt the console into a fine paste, burn things or download stuff off the internet? I can just play them all as soon as they arrive?

Thanks for your help!
Currently playing: Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker (DS), Shenmue (Dreamcast), Dragon Warrior VII (PS1).

Don't see why not. The Dreamcast can play CD-R's without any modding needed, and in 9o% of cases it doesn't even need a boot disc.

If it says it comes with a "Backup enabling disc", they might be rips from like 6 years ago that require it. Anyways, those are all worthless, self booting or not, you could just get them all at UG Gamer or something. Chances are you're not into a good part of them.

Ah, but see the thing is I have no experience burning games and I don't have any equipment to do so (that I know of). With that in mind, would you encourage me just to get all these pre-made back ups? Certainly would save a lot of hassle like...

Wow, does sound pretty simple. Thanks tHePhAnToM!??!, I should just make my own instead of getting 150 random ones (most of them probably being games I don't want).

Hey, I need to buy a certain type of CD to burn these thing onto, right? Could you recommend me ones I could go for?

Also, does all of this still work for PAL gamers? Sorry for all the questions. :)

Edit - Hang on a minute, do I have to pay for this DiscJuggler?

the demo will force you to burn at the slowest possible speed but that's ok, for dc games, the slower the better

I've got my eye on some Fuji CD-Rs that says it "store's up to 700MB of data". Should that be sufficient to cover the Dreamcast games?
