What single player RTS campaign are you playing?

Post by Pulsar_t »

The last RTS campaign I concluded was SupComm 2 for the 360 (Strange choice of platform, I know).. Now I have three choices but can't be bothered with any of them it seems haha

Perhaps something you're currently playing I can get interested in.. Pity Sins of a Solar Empire doesn't have a structured campaign to wade through!

The only RTS I own that I haven't beaten is Age of Empires II(which is funny as I played a lot of the first and even won $100 in a tournament for Age of Empires III). I just don't care for the genre much. I used to really love games like Warcraft: Orcs & Humans, and Warcraft II was a personal favorite for a few years...until I picked up the incredible awesomeness that is Total Annihilation. But after that, I just got bored with it.

There's always Starcraft, which everyone and their mother has played at some point(and everyone and their mother seem to go on rabid rants about how awesome it is). I've played a bit of Empire Earth, but not single player, and that game can literally take 10 hours for a single match. Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War was excellent if you haven't tried it.

I'm bouncing between SupCom and C&C Red Alert. SupCom has this habit of doing assholish things to me, like saying "Oh yeah, that force you built up? Now that you did that objective it's all completely out of place and a completely wrong composition and now we're fucking you up the ass".

I think that had been alleviated somewhat with the sequel, but it does irritate the player immensely. And you can't speed up the game either!

I didn't have that problem with the Cybran campaign (except the last level, but that was just for a single early objective) but it was a total pain in the ass on UED (or whatever they are) mission 2.

The game fucked you up the ass, and you're still playing? You're a trooper dude.

Is Supreme Commander 2 any good? The first one was pretty meh for me, but it had some interesting things going on that kept me playing for awhile. I haven't played a new RTS (that was good) in forever.

Currently I'm playing through the campaign for Age of Empires II. I've already beaten the William Wallace tutorial and have moved onto Joan of Arc, but I don't have much time to play these days, so progress is slow.

Maybe I'm just a slow player, but campaign missions in AoE 2 can take me like 2 hours to beat. So my progress in that game has always been slow as well.
