I have a 60GB (original model) PS3. I love the backwards-compatible beast, but the touch-sensitive eject button recently stopped working.
Now the only way I can seem to eject a disc is through the software.
I tried wiping it down with a cloth, but it didn't seem to help.
Any other ideas?

no, but between this and the graphics glitch you explained, it may be on its way out...
Re: Touch-based eject button stopped responsing on PS3
Bummer. I'm wondering if I should bother with getting a Backwards compatible one again or just get a new slim. I don't find myself using PS2 games a whole lot, but having it available (with HDMI out) is nice.dsheinem wrote:no, but between this and the graphics glitch you explained, it may be on its way out...

I like my PS3 Slim because it doesn't sound like I have a jet engine in my room anymore. Used to have an 80GB PS3 with software emulation for PS2.

Nick, if yr not going to use the PS2 BC on it, then it probably makes more sense to get a new slim with a nice warranty, eh?
Re: Touch-based eject button stopped responsing on PS3
Maybe I'll get a slim for my primary machine and keep the BC model in reserve.
I do want the PS2 stuff, I just don't use it real often. Like I really wanted to play Half-Life soon. Plus I have favs like The Red Star.
I really don't want to have to have extra controllers and another non-HDMI input just to play PS2 games.

Just get a white PS2 slim. They're so nice looking.
Sure you'll have extra clutter, but maybe you will grow to love it. The only game I have for my PS2 that I occasionally play is Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus...
PS2 backwards compatibility is nice, for sure. However, I think you will get over that missing feature quickly if you choose to get a slim.

Do a repair through sony, i think its $150 for a new "refurbished" PS3, and you get the same model back from them. So you can keep your HDMI. I have a fat ps3 also, with some of the B/C features. (80GB motostorm pack to be exact) I wouldnt want to lose it for nothing.

The Sony repair is in Texas. You can do an even exchange for the exact same model or change to a slim. Not sure what the current price, but you get a refurbished one with a brand new shell. Sony will ship you the UPS tracked box free, well as part of the repair bill.

If it had HDMI and I could use the bluetooth PS3 controllers, I'd go for it.ZenErik wrote:Just get a white PS2 slim.
