I can't think of a better title for this thread, but you know when games have a alternative title and there main title, do you guys refer to some games with its original title or the alternative title, example in the US there is a game called "Jet Grind Radio" but in Japan its called "Jet Set Radio", IMO I will always refer to it as Jet Set Radio because its been said several times through out the game and the sequel is called Jet Set Radio Future. Sometimes I named a game with an alternative name to ease the confusion between another game, like the "Bust-A-Move" series, I always call it by its original title "Puzzle Bobble" because I would confuse myself with the music game "Bust A Groove" and the name like "Bust-A-Move" sounded like a music game than a puzzle game.
Ok, I am done rambling, I hope you guys know what I am talking about.

Re: Game titles and there Alternative titles
A better name for the thread might be something like "Japanese vs US/UK game names" or something. But yes, I know what you're talking about. I usually refer to a game by it's original Japanese name, but it depends on who I'm talking to. I'm not going to call a Dynasty Warriors game Shin Sangoku Musou to someone that's going to have no idea what I'm talking about.

Re: Japanese vs US/UK game names
It depends on which name sounds better. Jet Set Radio sounds better than Jet Grind Radio, but Astyanax sounds better than Lord of King.

Re: Japanese vs US/UK game names
I generally tend to go by the name it was released in the US as, with a few exceptions. I always refer to Final Fantasy titles by the correct numbering, for example.

Funny that you mentioned Bust A Move, The Japanese version of the U.S. Bust A Grove. I tend to go by U.S. names too, agree though Puzzle Bobble seems more recognized.TheyCallMeTheSwede wrote:I can't think of a better title for this thread, but you know when games have a alternative title and there main title, do you guys refer to some games with its original title or the alternative title, example in the US there is a game called "Jet Grind Radio" but in Japan its called "Jet Set Radio", IMO I will always refer to it as Jet Set Radio because its been said several times through out the game and the sequel is called Jet Set Radio Future.
