Painted my dreamcast
The pictures arent great, but I wanted to know what you thought. I totally stripped the plastic of all electronics so I could paint the bottom too. I think it turned out ok for my first time.
It began life as a white console I purchased day of release and I only had enough cash to buy the cheapest launch title, PEN PEN TRICELON. To anyone else who played it, I am sorry.

Re: Painted my dreamcast
Nice. Do you have better quality photos so we can see the detail?
Thanks everyone...

Nice paint job, maybe also crop the photos to 725 wide for an easier read?Gnashvar wrote:Nice. Do you have better quality photos so we can see the detail?
Your color scheme would be perfect for this. I set up a large non HD CRT TV with Dreamcast House of the Dead and a Lightgun in the back of the 4Runner truck on Halloween nights. The one time of the year I play Dreamcast House of the Dead on something besides a CRT computer monitor. Shoot the Zombies while waiting on the Trick or Treaters.

Re: Painted my dreamcast
I will post some new pics tomorrow with my camera (the first ones are phone pix) after I get the vmus done and try to paint the analog stick and triggers. I dont think you could see that the modem is bright orange too.
Thanks for input.

When I saw the title "Painted my dreamcast" I thought to myself, why? But you did a pretty nice job, good stuff.
Was the dreamcast cosmetically damaged prior to the painting?

Wow, you did a great job!
I'd like to have a similar color scheme, except I'd use red over orange.
Man it looks good though. I'm impressed. So many paint jobs come out as total disasters, so the good ones really stand out.
Would you mind telling us about it? How long it took, your method and such?

Re: Painted my dreamcast
It took about an hour to paint and dry after I took it apart. It was just fine prior to painting. My dc hasnt been getting much love lately as I have been playing the sh!t out of Skitchin, so I got some krylon and did 2 even coats on all plastic. Flat black and neon orange. I have about 80 games for dc, and usually all it gets used for is Record of Lodoss War. Ive done some painting for a living and my next project is my nes, gonna be red with bricks and coins. I know some people dont like to "wreck" their consoles but I enjoy custom art on my consoles. The dc was just a test to see how it would turn out as a base coat before I get too into painting. Ive seen some pretty ghastly paint jobs but I think mine turned out just right. Not too busy and not too plain.
