Does anyone know of any other games like this?
I had a hard time even coming up with the name for this topic, but basically I'm trying to find out if this type of game has a genre and if there are any other games like it. It's like a strategy fighter or something. There's an ATB going on for both characters and you perform different attacks/moves by pressing a face button and a direction on the dpad.
Does anyone know of any other games like this? I'd be really interested in knowing of any more. These are the only ones I've ever come across:
Yu Yu Hakusho (SFC)
Yu Yu Hakusho Tokubetsuhen (SFC)
Yu Yu Hakusho II (Game Gear)
Hokuto no Ken (Saturn)
As you can see they're pretty much only anime games, and YYH ones at that. I think I remember seeing a game like this in one of the AVGN Godzilla reviews too.

Hm, I can't think of any games like that. That's pretty interesting though - it's like you're creating your own anime action sequence in a way. Perhaps that's why this style lends itself to the genre (esp. Yu Yu Hakusho).

Interesting.. It actually reminded me of Tecmo's soccer game for the NES.
Imagine soccer if it was made as an RPG by Squaresoft..
Although a fighting game like this is a pretty neat idea.. It's a shame there are no English games like this.

Related, but not quite the same, there is the turn-based fighting game Toribash. You go back and forth taking turns moving your bodies in small increments. You have control over the direction and speed of each appendage. You take turns making your moves, then it replays it and you watch the violence play out.
It's also freeware.

The PC-FX has some good ones, Battle Heat, Galaxy Yuna, All Japan Womans Pro Wrestling: Queen of Queens and Tengai Makyo Karakuri Kakutoden. I was always told the genre is called FMV fighter or animated fighter.
