The long path to discovering that God Hand is awesome

Post by J T »

Kotaku has an ongoing feature called "Speak Up" where readers of the site can submit their thoughts, and occassionally get featured on the blog. I was really appreciative of what this person wrote about God Hand and that Kotaku published it because this is probably the worst case of a great game that was treated utterly unfairly by critics. If you haven't played God Hand yet, please do. It rocks.

God Hand has got to be one of my favorite beat em up games, period, just because it's so crazy. Glad it's getting more love thrown its way. The only game I know of where you can spank hookers to death and beat up midget power rangers, coupled with the deep, free form and custom combat system.

When I played it, I had no issues with it, and just came to the conclusion that maybe the reviewers sucked at it. The game's one of those cases where it's unforgiving but fair at the same time.

I never could get into God Hand much. I know a lot of beat'em up fans love it and defend it so I gave it a nod when I did my beat'em up article, but I honestly think a lot of the game's negative reviews were right on the money

Well that's not fair. If he can't voice his dissatisfaction with his experience here, then where? If a man can't put his feet in the mud and say "I make my stand here, today" then what does he have left? He'd have to make his own thread and think of a different metaphor that intimates how the critics had it right all along; after all, there is no great mystery, the world is as it should be. Then people would have to pick sides. This would divide the community into those that talk about God Hand and those that talk about how God Hand shouldn't even be talked about.

Do you want that blood on your hands? Think about that, Hitler.

I'm not sure if you're being facetious or not, but I thought it was pretty clear that I was.

I like everything about God Hand. The sense of humor, the music, the crazy combos. Yet, I'm horrible at it, and I can't seem to improve, ever.

While I have respect for him for liking a game, I have close to none for the fact he took a IGN review on board....
